Yes and we have a REAL DAWG as a basketball coach. Gets kids into the NBA. AND… we spend a lot of money on basketball players. I like where your heads out my guy… maybe our basketball coach should coach our football team!
I 100% agree with you. We do not have the money to pay the top coaches. However like Houston did with Tom Herman, we have to get the up and coming young coach. Yes we will lose him, but that is just who we are. Having Fritz now is just so hard to convince the real talent to come here. I can make bets next year will be hard to watch. We need the up and coming young talented coach.
High school players wanna play early.
Willie is playing some freshman & sophomores this yr
Why leave & go be a backup or 3rd string at an SEC school
Koby Young, Jacquise Martin, DJ Butler getting alot of opportunities this yr
How do you explain us getting Keisean Henderson?
Because their film is not pro level film. They all want to go to the league, regardless how crazy that sounds. He would be a great AD, just not the guy for this next generation. Also if those guys jump in the portal for money at a bigger school they will feel like the risk was worth it. He was coaching like that in the beginning of the year, he has a good record so he is good, but he lost the city. It went from HTown Takeover to HTown Take a nap. Im curious who is going in the portal and who we get from the portal this year.
Fair enough. We’ll see how we do in the portal this off-season
We currently have 16 Coogs on NFL rosters.
Except that it is why he has been successful everywhere he has been.
Willie Fritz recruits players who stay with him
through a combination of focusing on local talent, building strong relationships, and developing players for long-term success. His strategy includes developing homegrown talent in the Houston area, using transfer portal pickups strategically, and fostering a culture where players want to remain and develop within the program. He emphasizes retention to create a stable team and avoid the large roster turnover he experienced in his first year at Houston.
- Developing homegrown talent: Fritz aims to make the University of Houston a destination for top local high school recruits, with a goal of having the majority of the roster be high school signees.
- Strategic use of the transfer portal: While his long-term goal is development, he has used the transfer portal to bring in experienced players who he believes can contribute immediately and strengthen the team.
- Emphasis on player retention and development: He believes retaining players is crucial for developing talent and the program’s success, stating, “if you can’t retain 'em, you can’t develop 'em”.
- Building strong relationships: Fritz’s “ball coach” approach involves being actively involved with his players, which helps build culture and commitment to the program.
Even on Thanksgiving tech fans thinking about UH?
Nominated for WORST post of the year.
Sorry man but you have no idea what you are talking about.
The coaches are playing to their strengths with the specific talent they have.
With higher upside kids with specific skills the offense will open up and be able to expand the playbook.
What Coach Nagle is doing is trying to shorten the game, control the clock and WIN the game.

Fritz is literally at worst the 2nd best recruiter in program history.

^^^ Who is this fool? ^^^
…and who is this “we” he refers to 5 times in his post?
Yeah, Sumlin dumped us during our conference championship week and Herman had one magical season with other guys recruits. But where are those up and comers now… and no one cares.
^^^
This may be the stupidest thing I’ve heard, ever, on this MB.
UH has the best recruiting class as far back as most folks here can remember, coming in… the consensus #1 player in the country coming in….
…and he bases his premise on the current staff’s poor recruiting…
Seriously???
Other than the nation’s top QB recruit eh?
