2027 Centennial

Agreed, makes even Downtown Houston look horrible in places.

Love some of the planned plazas/greenspaces, here’s my faves:

University Park

Wilhelminas Park

Inspiration Commons

2/3 of these are replacing some type of parking lots/roadway. Hopefully in the future they’ll remove the UH Entrance 14 road completely, and convert it to sometype of laneway/common

Did that open up on Arthur K Smith’s watch?

Surely it was built around that time, right?

I rate him 2nd to Renu among UH Presidents during my lifetime.

Yes replicate the TMC2 garage on the TMC campus. I would strategically add police presence/satellite stations/office at any garage on/near the UH campus that seems fit.

Looks nice, but as I am biased, is there no replacement for Education as they tear down that building?

I’ve always said Dr. Renu Khator walks on water.

Here’s her recent address to the faculty.

two things seems UH coulda done, have built some parking garages on campus, they really surround campus and its a helluva walk to campus from them and not turned the few roads on campus into sidewalks, better roads would have been better. i am sure students just love making those walks during storm season and when its 95 out there.

As a general rule, cars should be as far away from the center of campus as possible.

I think that one thing they need to add to the campus are big misting stations and fans throughout, specifically for the hot summers.

Many years ago, I had the opportunity to drive thru the LSU campus. I drove right up to their BB arena and I traversed from the North side to the South side of campus. Just about 5 or 6 years ago, I returned and I could not get within a half mile of any building on campus. I don’t remember about aTm, but I don’t believe you can get a place to park a vehicle anywhere near a building. I did get close to the vet school, with an animal that needed looking after.

Gonna miss the Technology Annex.

Just toured A&M with my daughter. Parked in a garage right next to the building where the tour began, very close to Kyle Field.

Great location for that building. Going to activate a lot of foot traffic in the central area of campus in front of the library which tends to be dead outside of the periods when everyone gets out of class.

I know the garage you’re talking about. Right next to the MSC on the north side of Kyle field.

I hope you enjoy brutalist architecture, because that campus has ZERO greenery.

Is that a food hall on the first floor?

Hoping she goes to U of H Katie.

Nope. Probably a collaboration area.

It’s even worse on the other side where the business school is. The stadium and the park next to it are pretty awesome though. Some of the bars on Northgate too.

University of Houston Welcomes Record Enrollment of Nearly 49,000 Students

If we can organize all of these people to fill the stadium for orientation, then why don’t we encourage the sane participation at football games? Give them an incentive for going by rewarding them with a participation grade.
