I mean yes…
But then people on the board/around the area complained of the same thing.
I kind of buzzed away until an athletics faculty brought up some revamping because someone had 18 season tickets and very barely any were scanned/used.

Really should not announce sellouts at any point prior to the game. With the scalping services there are always seats available. As long as there are seats on the after market we need to push for those seats to sell. What we need to do in the future is stop allowing those services to eat up as many season tickets as they do.
Our at dent secoon has come so far since our move to the F. I have a tough time seeing the complaints. We used have next to none during the holidays and that has vastly improved. All the other games see the floor full and some scattered in the stands. The big games, I high aren’t many in this conference, have both full.
With some improvements to the ticketing system, more student housing and moving to the Big 12, along with our on court success it will continue to build
Eh. This was the way when I was a student, and it kind of sucked – at least for Football, I was paranoid that the student section would fill up and that led to missing a lot of tailgating, etc. Having a way to guarantee myself a ticket and not worry about that would have been nice. Admittedly, I attended during the Dickey and early Sampson years, so I had no such concerns about Basketball. In general, though, I think the possibility of being too late to get into a sellout game discouraged some students from even trying to attend.
The midpoint solution I had was a separate app where you could claim and return at any time. Got a ticket and can’t go? Press return and it goes to either a wait-list or the next person to grab it.
What’s the incentive to return the ticket? Why not just sit on it and let it go unused?
I agree we have went from one extreme of using clickers and anyone with a past or present ID getting in free to allowing reservations but making it too difficult.
How hard is it to have the option of reserving a spot while still allowing students to scan their IDs at the door?
If there is space, you can still approach the ticket office and they’ll give you a ticket to get in, whether it be in the student section or in the nosebleeds. They don’t turn students away. This is mainly Football based though, and difficult for basketball.
So someone else gets it… Easy as that.
There were a few things noticed by Athletics when we met and talked.
Before Fall 2019, tickets would be claimed and sent to you instantaneously. This allowed for students to sell the tickets. This contributed to the immediate sellouts that happened before games.
However, once the rule was ‘You will get your tickets 24 hours before the event’, the time it took to sell out went down, AND scan rate was a lot less (50% of people that claimed showed up).
One thing I would point out, is that in Fall 2019, the system got very complicated and students were stuck finding ‘the mythical 9’ before their student ID to even get their account activated.
Secondly, if students were to claim a ticket the day before or day of, they might not even receive it due to the system releasing it at a certain time. This is a hit or miss though.
My proposition was do it through AccessUH. It would basically check whether or not you are enrolled, then assign your student ID to the data that the ticket contains (I’m not going into the details, but it is so stupid easy to counterfeit a ticket. Do not try to do so, though).
Anyway, all the tickets for students would be passed through there. That’s really it. You can claim, return, etc.
Whahhhhh.
Huge game!
What horrible games we are getting
We got really good games with Virginia, Oregon, and Alabama. Would like to see us add 2 or 3 more games like those.
And the rest can be body bags, for all I care.
I’m ok with it. Give the team a bit of time to find itself and work out kinks. Gives coaches a chance to identify preferred rotations and try some different approaches without worrying about losing a game.
This season is going to be so much fun!
Definitely one of those game many will have a shot at griping about empty seats
Not many chances for quad 1 games.,That will be corrected the following year
Their coach must have pictures of somebody. I guess, what are they Atlantic Sun?, as long as they are strong in conference they tolerate out of conference losses to majors, like TSU does … ha ha Florida.
We’re having no luck attracting quad 1 out-of-conference opponents. Might as well get used to it.
We did last year, it’s just that they sucked or weren’t too good last year: Virginia, Butler, Oregon, Oklahoma St.
I guess a couple of those were tournament games. Still, that shouldn’t matter.
I think Sampson feels that with Sharp, Arceneaux, Walker and even Mark and Sasser being pretty much out for fhe year last season that getting acclimated to the college game and getting a team chemistry is more important early. Or maybe not.
