Is this an aggie joke?

They aren’t. I specifically said ā€œisn’tā€.

It is folly for any of us to say what Kellen would do if the opportunity arose. I think I remember reading that CKS has said in the past if such an opportunity arose he should take it. Or it could be someone else said he should take it. But until such an offer actually materializes, I’m not going to worry about it. I would think that any such offer would be done in private and not surface unless he actually took the job.

ok I’ll play.

Kellen makes less than $1mm per year now I believe right? his contract states he’ll make $2mm the first 3 years as head coach once Kelvin steps down (im sure that will change as coaches make way more than that now at programs such as ours)

A&M would probably offer him $3-4mm to be a head coach of an SEC program with plenty of NIL.

its not really that far fetched of a thought, although I dont see it happening thank god.

From what CKS has said in the last couple weeks, he has a lifetime contract and he will choose when to hang it up, but it will likely be in the next 3-4 years.

I also believe he mentioned that he wants to hand Kellen the keys to a successful program. That doesn’t mean Kellen won’t get some head coaching experience in a Power Conference before then, but it definitely sounds like Kellen is next in line for the UH job.

Kellen will do what’s best for him and his family, but he has planted some deep roots here in Houston.

Would you feel the same if Kellen went to another program and flopped? Hes better off staying here IMO

Omg. Agi is so agi. That much money and self accoladed status, they want to go with an unproven assistant coach!!! If I were agi, I would definitely tout all that $$$ at an existing successful head coach. Going after an assistant would just feed into agi jokes. They are so…what’s the word?

I think hell have a longer leash here at UH if he flames out than in A&M.

With his dad having a successful career already at Houston.

Kinda of underwhelming pick.

He’s had a bit of success and I know he likes to get out and run….but seems like a giant leap.

I wonder if the interviewed Barone?

Bucky can coach. I think he will do well there for a year maybe 2 then move onto a bigger job. Maybe Illinois or a Syracuse type school.

Nah he left because A&M is a football school. And its not even close. Big 10 is easier to win also than SEC.

A&M: Yeah, so we fired your dad and everything, but what-say you come coach here now? We have new stuff!

Jr.: :no_mouth: :no_mouth:

The thought is he will go there at some point….hes a good coach and several boosters are big fans.
My uncle is a big money A&M donor and he and others are very fond of the Barones.

Was there something unjust about the elder Barone’s firing? I’m too young to remember the SWC, but it seems to me like coaches at this level are probably pretty unlikely to hold grudges over firing a guy after 7 years.

He sucked.

I remember him losing to some of Alvin Brooks’ teams.
