Chris Cenac Jr

And the other thread has his name spelled correctly.

Thank you. Fixed it.

It is interesting seeing how quickly views on him changed in less than 2 months.

Scrolling up to the top of this thread, everyone was very positive about him after he opened the season with a double double.

He is not enough of a Defensive presence.

No, he isn’t awful. But we need shot blocking and Rebounding.

Predict he will improve as The Big 12 season goes along.

My view of Cenac remains unchanged. I’m an old fat alum, but here is what I see. He is a talented, versatile player who can score in a variety of ways—off the face-up, off the dribble, with a turnaround jumper, from beyond the arc, in transition, and down low. His skill set is well-rounded and impressive, and I enjoy watching his game. As February and March approach, I believe he will be a key contributor to a UH team that gets rolling, gains momentum, and competes for a national championship. KF and CC, Jr. won’t be freshman come March
they will be big time players in the tournament. I’ve seen enough, I am a believer!

He’s been cleaning the boards

Just hasn’t been protecting the rim as much as he should

He’s still kind of slow-footed on defense. This is purely a mental thing because he hasn’t really learned how to play defense yet. He’s getting better but not a “plus” defender at this point.

When Cenac becomes a “plus” defender UH will be really tough to beat.

Tougher than what we saw in December.

Cenac is a freshman. He had prom six months ago.

This is December 2025, not March 2026.

Hopefully the changing of the year turns boy to man

I know that his role is not to be a post-up scorer, but when he ends up with the ball under the basket - big boy needs to score it!

A couple of times last night he passed it out from under the basket when a guy with his size/athleticism ought to be able to create a great shot

I’d like to see opponents find going into the paint as unpleasant as possible.

What everyone is thinking is Chris the type of Center that can dominate the inside perimeter? So far he has not. That is a fact. The other fact is that he is a Freshman. He has got two months to “explode” He reminds me of someone that has not even come close to reach half of his potential. We look around the ncaa field and he is not at that level. What concerns me more is our other so called “big men” Tugler, Lath and Sakho have a few months to take it to another level. March Madness is coming fast. The great news is that we have the best Coach and coaching staff. I love it that CKS tells everyone that MTS basically outmuscled us. He is 100% right. This is not acceptable to him and should never bee acceptable to his players. This is in games like these that the entire team will learn to eventually succeed. We need Sakho back quick and for Lath for get fully game ready. That too will take time.

I know my opinion does not count, but Cenac should return next year to gain muscle, learn more from CKS, figure out how to play with his back to basket on offense and become a beast. But, NBA $$$ based on size might prevent that from happening.

He’s going to make a ton of money but has not developed any inside game, whatsoever. He may never get that here. He needs to go make that $$$

Add muscle? Have you seen him up close? :joy:

I think CKS( and his staff) is likely the best in college basketball at developing guys and getting them ready for the NBA.

But NBA coaches can develop his game even better.

Even if money is not factored in , he needs to go to the league.

We say this abt every freshman nba prospect. Do i agree he could benefit from another year in college? Yes. Is it gonna happen? No

Sad that kids don’t even go to class these days. As Steve Miller said “take the money and run.”
