Chris Cenac Jr

Cenac go up strong! Jeez.

Why should they go to class? They will earn millions without it. You go to college to get better job opportunities; this isn’t the middle ages.

I do not doubt he has the tools. I still do not understand his position vs what he is producing. His season average is good but far from dominant. Is it that CKS does not want him to dominate inside when he is driving to the basket? It seems the NBA has a ton of players like Chris. At 6’11" I expect him to be a force inside. We have yet to see it. Again, if CKS does not want him to play inside this is obviously CKS’ decision.

I don’t get where they are playing him either

Remember when we thought Jarace Walker was soft? I think Cenac play way softer than Jarace.

He does. Gets the ball down low and can’t wait to pass it out to someone else. Soft

Well, it’s two months later. Things change. He hasn’t progressed or gotten tougher

Cenac’s game is a combination of Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis. I think Sampson coaches Cenac to play to his strengths. Judging from Cenac’s play, he is more comfortable with taking a mid-range jump shots and occasional threes, than mixing it up under the basket.

Cenac isn’t the problem. Last year a lot of people complained about not having a big man that could step out and knock down an outside shot. Well, we now have that player in Cenac.

The difference now is that we don’t have anyone playing on the low blocks. Perhaps Sampson thought JoJo would become that player but he’s just isn’t, and probably never will be. Sahko plays in the low post but he’s extremely limited offensively to just dunks and layups.

When you don’t have a guy like Roberts that can get his own shot down low and demand double teams while drawing defenders away from our guards on the perimeter, we become much easier to defend. The last three games have exposed that fact.

I understand being comfortable doing those things but when you’re 3-4 feet from the basket it’s basically a layup or dunk for his size just going toward the basket. I just don’t get why there’s a least 1-2 times a game when that’s available yet he doesn’t go up hard. Would have way higher success rate.

J’wan Roberts is 6’8" and had two 20-rebound games with UH. Offensively, he could power guys inside and then hit them with that sneaky hook shot he developed. Cenac is 6’11", scores no more than Roberts, and will never sniff 20 rebounds.

Cenac has not been with UH that long. I can see that he has talent. It pains me greatly to say this, but he has a ways to go to develop into a dominant big man. Lately, he has shown flashes of being a really good inside player, but he might not be as consistent as we would like?

Roberts was a stud. End of story.

You do realize that Cenak leads the team in rebounds, averaging about 8 per game. The next closest Cougar is 2.5 RPG behind him. He hs 5 double doubles and is really close to having 4 more.

His rebouding is not the problem.

we could always use the rockets to try and scare him and flemings to comeback

Cenac is a tough rebounder when he wants to be, but he falls in love with the 3-point line far too much, especially with Tugler sitting much of the time.

Sampson could be putting him out there to stretch the opponents’ defense. In close to the basket, Cenac might need a patented inside offensive move he hasn’t developed yet. Maybe Tugler and Cenac should break out the Moses Malone and Jwan Roberts film? Hakeem had that spin move that was unstoppable.

Cenac is definitely playing where Sampson wants him to be.

He does have to get on him about playing passive sometimes, but it’s not like he’s just floating around outside because he’s scared of the paint or something.

What are you even talking about? Cenac is an awesome rebounder. He’s playing around a bunch of guys that can’t rebound.

Tugler can rebound, but he’s always sitting.
