That’s the spirit!
dont take his posts too seriously, he’s a glass half-empty kind of guy lol
If I remember from the 2016 tracking planes, realignment days OU has 2 planes, and they are owned by the university not the athletic department, one night we freaked out because an OU plane was in Houston, but it turned out to be the dean of the law school at a banquet.
Not saying we shouldn’t add a private jet to the shopping list but I think our athletic department has far more pressing issues.
“To games” is not the same as “to recruit”, is how I’d expect CKS to answer that question lol
Not sure how wealthy the founder (or co-founder?) Of WordPress is, but UH would tout him as a successful Alum back in the early 2010’s.
I don’t remember his name.
Tbh I don’t even know how valued or used that website is anymore, but it was pretty popular back then.
Will Kunkel should post like a professional journalist and not a content farming teenager desperate for clicks/engagement.
I don’t think we have the resources or alum base to compete at the highest level of football but it pays the bills
We have plenty of alums.
What we don’t have is enough people to care about UH football.
It’s not like UH needs to buy a plane, they can just buy private plane hours and schedule it anytime it is needed. Not that hard and not a good look for CKS to be complaining in the media. He must have asked for it and was told no.
Who knows. It’s too hard for the media guys to ask follow up questions like “did they tell you no?” or “Do you want plane hours or a jet purchased for basketball?”
Why are we saying no. If that man leaves then UH will be scrambling for an adequate replacement.
A contract doesnt mean anything he can get out of and UH can afford to foot the bill on monthly payments for a plane.
Its stupid he has to ask for anything. If he needs it he needs it. The guy is in his 60s and he makes money. He doesn’t strike me as someone who ask for outlandish things. Just give him the resources. If he thinks the donors are getting annoyed to use their planes give him one!
Why is this even a thing. I was there when hoff was empty. Two losing programs will end UH.
Respectfully UH isn’t going to become a losing program because we don’t have a private jet for CKS to use for recruiting. Sampsons gonna fight to get every tool he can get for his program (as he should). However a discerning AD has to weigh whether or not a private jet is a good investment. Ofc if any of our board members are secret billionaires maybe they could just step up and get coach his jet so that this is no longer an issue lol
Just take it out of the endowment
You beat me to it but you’re way nicer. Half empty is being polite
Matt Mullenweg.
Reasonable alternative, if you just need to get to Point A to Point B.
There may be a concern at UH that using taxpayer funds for a private jet for athletics is a frivolous misuse of funds. I don’t believe the majority of public care if UT or A&M have a private jet, particularly if it is paid for with private money. When you run a deficit like the UH Athletic Department, getting a private jet is fair game for criticism.
This is what im confused by:
We’re finally to the point where we’re recruiting top 20 players in the country
Those types of players, probably need more attention, more face to face recruiting.
So, Sampson, needs a plane to visit these recruits and our fanbase thinks its unreasonable??
I disagree w/ some CKS things. But this one i dont
Where do we get the money… put public pressure on the new AD to get it. With the years Sampson has left before retirement, he will push the University to provide him things
That will allow for Kellen Sampson to be successful when he takes over.
I don’t understand how flying in a private plane to a recruit will sell a recruit. You aren’t bringing the city and our facilities on the plane/trip. Whatever speech he is giving from a flight he can make at Houston after showing our facilities in person. But I guess it’s a dog and pony show.
