CKS Needs a Private Jet

This isn’t really much of an issue.

Net Jets membership & Fly private wherever you need coach. Don’t need to spend millions.

Go Coogs!!

I think it’s that the recruit (and his family, etc) see that CKS is willing to take the time out of his day to fly out to talk to the recruit in person. In some instances it would be a same day type of meeting.

If CKS wants a private jet you give him the whole airport. He took a dead arse program and made it so attractive 5 stars want to come here. Ask Coach Fritz how hard it is to win at UH.

I’m sure Oregon is glad that Phil Knight doesn’t have that same attitude.

He did talk in vid about how we have to quit asking donors for their net jet hours… “let’s get our own hours”

Saw how it starts at 250 a year. Thats not out of line or unreasonable to add if the university doesnt want to spend 10M on one.

Of course none of the media guys highlight that distinction. They are all “buy CKS a plane!”

I’d chip in to get CKS his plane hours.

It would be great to have a plane.

Owning a private jet is more of a status thing. I’ve been on flights to and from Austin on Southwest Airlines and guess who was on the plane, sitting in her unassigned seat, just like the rest of us? President Dr. Renu Khator. You can rent a private jet and save on costs and maintenance. Unless a private jet is funded by private donations, renting one seems to be more cost effective option.

You can pull up to Millionaires in Hobby Airport anytime and rent a private jet. Hobby is so close it is like having a private jet. Recruiting is only two months in the fall and two months in the winter.

No, recruiting is a year round occupation…whether that be recruiting to retain the current players on the team or recruiting new players.

It may be year round but you cannot visit the players year round. A lot of recruiting is done through social media and text.

But imagine social media posts with a private jet in the background…

We could put theses wheels on it

That makes sense. Should be doable to get him a yearly allocation. Would 100 hours per year be enough?

I also was on a flight with Daryl Moray while he was with the Rockets.

I was headed to San Francisco so I was assuming his trip had something to do with the Golden State Warriors

My take…

CKS is acting like a baby.

He knew there would be a transition period when we entered the Big 12…he KNEW this!

Aside from that, we’ve given this man EVERYTHING

A head coaching job when NOBODY else would touch him- DONE!
A new Practice Facility- DONE!
Jobs for his ENTIRE family- DONE!
A completely renovated arena- DONE!
A spot in a Power Conference. Arguably the BEST Basketball Conference in America- DONE!
Students subsidizing Athletics- DONE!
Loan from our Endowment to cover Athletics- DONE!

Now, he wants a private jet for the sport with the FEWEST amount of scholarship offers.

Dude, read the room. We will eventually get you a jet but we need to get our finances in order until we start receiving those Full Big 12 checks.

Until then, we ALL are going to have to find creative ways to remain competitive

The facilites upgrades were a push to get a Big12 invite in 2016.

The Big12 invite was something the whole university wanted for TV money & more national exposure

I disagree w/ Sampson complaining openly on the 1st day of practice. Kinda bad vibes, i get it. But he has a right to ask for more

Hes been here for 10 years. Is the basketball program spending more than they bring in?

Or is football the huge net negative in costs due to team size, poor ticket sales, no advertising/sponsors

None of that stuff would have come if Kelvin didn’t make the admin uncomfortable. He needs to continue to push them. Because if he doesn’t then we have seen the results.

Just look at what the administration allowed to happen to our basketball program for 30 years. Kelvin needs to continue to operate exactly how he is operating.

So Sampson currently travels by private jet but he doesn’t llike asking to use it. I don’t want to lose Sampson but I’m not feeling his pain on this one
