Who were the “big names” they swung and missed at. Please do not say Pitino, even the most rabid Tech fan has to know there was no chance hed ever go to LUBBOCK.

And the Tech fans are BIG mad in the replies to Goodman’s tweet. LOL

Good spot for him.

Hes losing the core of his ORU team to graduation.(Abmas, Jurgens, Thompson, Vanover, Weaver)

The only one left, Issac McBride, could follow him to WSU.

AAC-All-Filter

Still a vacancy at Temple. And will be one at UNT with Mccasland reportedly leaving for Texas Tech

USF, is supposed to be landing Mike Brey.

The AAC as a whole next year:

Memphis and Tulane should own this conference.

Pew wheee

UAB has a shot to be good too

Thank God we got a life raft out of that conference.

Stanford tries to blame everything on its academics, but that is sort of a copout. Duke has similar academics to Stanford, yet never has a problem getting recruits.

The real problem Stanford has is that they are not good. In the late 1990’s to early 2000s. Stanford made a final four and even was a number 1 seed in the tourney. They had several players drafted in the NBA (Josh Childress, Brevin Knight, Brooke and Robin Lopez, Jason Collins, Jaron Collins, etc.). They won the NIT twice!!

Like most of the PAC, they have underfunded Athletics and as result, the sports programs have suffered. Thus, no one wants to go there to play sports. It then becomes a vicious cycle, feeding upon itself.

I think the problem is Stanford doesn’t accept transfers easily. So they can’t use the portal to get better.

Duke has lessened its basketball standards to stay competitive - Stanford kept thinking they can get high basketball iq kids on a consistent basis just cause they are Stanford

Doesn’t work like that on the men’s side - females - yes

McCasland has likely been the main candidate since about December. I think he’s a good fit for them as long as he can get some recruiters on staff. They have top-notch facilities and great fan support there, so the right coach will get some guys who can play.

McCasland will do very well at Tech

CUSA 3.0

Stanford doesn’t underfund athletics. They offer THIRTY SEVEN D1 programs. And most are highly competitive.

What Stanford doesn’t do is put everything into one or two sports.

Stanford is much more like an Ivy and why the hell would they change that?

Stanford is Stanford. It wins Directors cup. It will be just fine.

Oregon lost to Wisconsin, last night in the NIT Quarterfinals. Game was in Eugene, OR.

Dana Altman, wasn’t happy with the poor fan support.

So Dana is saying Oregon in the Big might not work that well (at least for basketball)?

And it sounds like Dana is tired of coaching Oregon. And he’s right…someone, and that someone will probably be somewhat desirable, will pick him up quickly after he’s release (if he’s let go).
