Did the City of Houston host a viewing party in front of the GRB/Discover Green for UT’s playoff games?
No!
They DO for the Coogs!

Well that’s inside the 610. I’m almost certain there are far more Coogs than Aggie+tu fans combined living inside the 610. Suburbs like Cypress and Katy? I suspect slightly more aTm and tu.
Cypress or Katy isn’t the city of Houston…those are suburbs and exurbs
The point is the City of Houston does not celebrate other schools like they do the Cougars
They didn’t light up downtown skyscrapers burnt orange or host watch parties in city parks, etc.
Sorry fella but there are just more Aggie/UT fans in Houston than we have, why do you think all these stores carry so much ut/ Aggie gear cause more people support these schools than our own home town it’s really sad but I don’t think it will ever change
Inside the 610 (which IS Houston) I disagree.
Now outside, in the suburbs. Katy, Cypress, Tomball, etc… yeah probably more aTm, and tu fans…
It’s all Houston as far as I’m concerned
Ooof them there are fight words on this board….
JK I don’t really care but people get up in arms about roping in the burbs
Okay. Houston = inside the 610 (and maybe whatever is 10 miles outside of it.
Anything way way out… is not Houston …
It’s not ALL Houston…not even close
None of the cultural institutions, educational institutions, sporting venues, city parks, convention center, downtown/ med center, eclectic urban districts, etc. are located outside of the loop + uptown
I don’t give a crap about the metro outside of the loop…nothing but generic cookie cutter type of sprawl. That’s NOT THE CITY!
All of the charming things that MAKES HOUSTON HOUSTON are inside the loop + uptown
I can remember flying into IAH 15 years ago and the sports shops had NO UH hats or clothes.
Even 10 years ago it was sparse. It’s finally changed though so that when I fly in, I can easily buy UH gear. It’s progress.
Stores generally carry more UT and Aggy stuff because the fans of those schools are more fervent, but they’re not more plentiful, at least not within the city limits.
We need to start pumping out more Jordan branded UH for the masses in stores.
I’m telling you, kids love that logo. You would start seeing people rep it
I have 5 UH Jumpman items!
I still like the idea of buying a bunch of Aggie and Longhorn T-Shirts and giving them to the homeless population downtown under the freeways.
If you want to know about ATM and Horn fans in Houston, on game day, head out 290 to Chapple Hill and watch ATM traffic and/or stop in Hruska’s in Ellinger. I 10 and 290 are bumper to bumper following home games.
We can’t even get the polos or shoes that the team wears lol.
Even other Jordan brand schools like UNC, Florida, UCLA, Michigan, OU have more available gear for fans to buy.
Yep we are a pathetic fanbase compared to A&M, they are rabid
Whether or not that is true, IF markets matter (as you have always claimed), I can assure you that UT and aTm have more fans in the Houston MARKET, and that, of course includes suburbs, exurbs, etc.
That’s why you can’t exclude suburbs or exurbs in any “local fan base” or “local support” discussion.
And that’s why, even assuming markets matter most (which is dubious in today’s streaming environment), we cannot assume that our market really helps us that much. The reality is that UT and aTm undoubtedly have more fans in this market, and would deliver it better.
Yeah…tell me when the City of Houston hosted a viewing party at Discovery Green for the Longhorns recent playoff run or lit downtown Houston skyscrapers in “Baylor Green”…for their NCAA Championship run.
Didn’t Happen!
If you’re not seeing the buzz, IN HOUSTON, for this Coogs NCAA run…you’re just not paying attention.
The CITY could care less about the Longhorn’s recent playoff appearances the last two seasons…crickets
There is ANOTHER viewing party at Discovery Green/GRB for today’s game…I suggest you attend to see the proof with your own two eyes!
