DS is real streaky. Sometimes he looks great and sometimes he looks terrible. It is what it is. So long as his terrible is till being smart with the ball and not turning it over, this team can win games imo.
Running up the middle every play only worked because Rice is so bad. It wonāt work any more.
We can only play Rice once a season.
But we have another problem. Donovan Smith is not the same QB after surgery. His passing is bad. Itās like weāre running the wildcat every play. Even when we were ahead, they kept Smith in. They only put in Chriss at the very end, and he is a runner only. Ale seems to be the only one that can pass. Is Ale on the coachās bad list?
DS and WF better be ready for a bunch of interior blitzes against UC.
If DS sees a blitzer he loses his mind.
Yesterday Rice brought an extra guy off the corner. The RB did a great job of picking him up. DS then tucked the ball and took two steps forward and got tackled by that guy who the RB picked up.
He canāt find the open man if he sees a blitzer.
Really !
We were playing Riceā¦ā¦ie, cannot conclude anything !!
My take on the team after this game.
First: After 3 weeks UNLV is a very good offensive 3-0 team and OU held to 16 points still means something.
Defense is best overall I have seen in a long time. They swarmed at every tackle. They handled man coverage. The enthusiasm and training is really evident.
Offense. I like our RBs and WRs. O line is improving. QB needs to get his act together and start playing up to the same level as his RBs & WRs.
Special Teams. Itās great to see all of them playing with such passionate energy.
Coach knows that and I am sure they will be working with Smith all week on countering the blitz. I am interested to see if Smith makes any progress on it.
Pretty spot on. If only we had a quarterback with a quick release that could run the ball. I know Smith had a couple of nice runs, but it was against Rice. They probably have the worst defense in the country.
Canāt wait to have a QB with a quick first step that can elude the pass rush. Thatās exactly the of QB needed for type of offensive scheme.
I was glad we got a penalty last night so i could watch the defense again.![]()
2012 (Levine Yr 1): UH 35 Rice 14 at Reliant. We both finished 4-4 in conference that year.
I like seeing the running attack. Miss State is even more awful without Barbay. Same guy who ground it out with A&M on the road when at App State. I like it. Frustrating at times but I trust it more than Applewhite or other OCs weāve had.
DE was crashing down on the RPO last night DS needs to keep a few of them just to make the defense believe he is a threat to run.
I think that long TD run in the 2nd half showed heās a threat to run.
Smith missing open players and not able to make passes beyond 10 yards will make any o-coordination look bad.
It worked because it was a planned play, ie, he didnāt have to think.
But that is preplanned. He does not know when to pull the ball out and keep it.
There we no backs in the backfield.
Why didnāt he get under center this week? He does better sometimes doing that.
Bump
The play calling is atrocious. The screens didnāt work all day long yet he kept going back to them. I saw a few crossing routes towards the end of the game, but unfortunately the QB was off target. Why are we not utilizing more two TE sets in the passing game? Why are we not getting the ball to the skill players? If you canāt get the ball into the hands of the skill players, then you have little chance of scoring with the style of offense, especially when you canāt get much of a push upfront with the OL.
Barbary was not fumbling or doing interceptions. So stop this firing shii.
0 points.
