Game 5 review

I agree and that’s exactly what I told our season ticket holder group a couple of games ago.

Yes. In the first half Dante was laughing after some of his plays because he was just pushing the UH bigs around too easily.

We also have to get better in the half court offense to make a big push in the tourney.

Got to learn how to operate the offense against zone defenses

Agreed, but hitting 15-20 from the charity stripe gave them a decisive edge to our 7-10…and don’t forget they got many of those free throws when we didn’t have a chance. To be honest, I thought the officiating was very bias, especially in the second half during their comeback.
But that’s basketball. Last night was a huge learning lesson for this team.
Do we get Oregon back here in Houston next year? We played our opening game at Fertitta against the Ducks but now have played them twice on the road and once more in a tourney last year.

I think the series has concluded

Jarace is showing flashes of greatness. By the January or February, he will be a force. This team will get better.

What I like about Jarace is that he’s not shy. A lot of our players look hesitant, like they’re afraid to make mistakes. But Jarace just goes out there and does his thing. Walker needs a bit of that too.

Forgot Alabama

Just our away from home games…Alabama and Memphis will be special at home no doubt…

The refereeing was very 70’s-80s Barnhill-ish

On the pregame interview, Sampson mentioned they needed better defense from Arceneaux.

We were up by 16 and then 8 out of their next 12 points were from the foul line…

Call it whatever you want but it still doesn’t change the fact that when Ramon is guarding anyone quicker than he is he struggles.

And the time keeper was very Texas Techish…

Him and Walker will both get better on defense, that’s for sure…

Eventually would like to see Sharp in there with Walker used as a small ball specialist 4.

I can’t wait for Alabama and I hope we put a whooping on them. I don’t want it to be close at all.

This was the thing that disappointed me the most. That dude was going to get rebounds and blocks, but our bigs just didn’t do the job of trying to keep a body on him. He wasn’t just taller - he was stronger and tougher than our guys. They did a decent job of trapping him, but even that was inconsistent because of some late rotations.

We also should have scored some easy buckets from pass-offs when he attacked for blocks, but we’re not quite there yet with the ball movement.

We’re a great team, but we were lucky to get out of that one with a win, all things considered. Our perimeter defense and shooting were overwhelming.

Geez one guy has a good rebounding game against us and we are disappointed and he was tougher blah blah blah. It has a whole lot to do with positioning and that will get better. At no point did I ever think that it was disappointing. They hit us in one area and we dominated the rest of the court. On the other end, one extra pass or following the ball to the hole for cutters would have helped. You will see the progress as the season takes off.

Well, I’m thrilled that you weren’t disappointed blah blah blah with our post guys inability to get anything done against their best player. I’m certain that Sampson has a different view.

It’s OK to acknowledge that we have some weaknesses. Really.
