Equal rights!
Ya know, as Iāve said.
In the past, including for much of my past military career, many jobs in the military were male-only.
Given that, it made sense that a draft should target males, as only males could fill many military jobs under past law.
But now, ALL jobs in the military are open to all genders. Given that, it seems only natural that we would draft members of all genders to fill them, should a draft ever become necessary again, and that our draft registration should reflect that.
I imagine that doing so wonāt be popular though. The Dems should be careful about taking a hard line on this, because at this point, I am not sure that this will be a winning issue for them, although I personally have no problem with it.
So part of this is of course exploiting American ignorance, one the ripest things for exploitation in political history.
I say this because when Americans hear ādraftā they all immediately think frontline infantry/ other direct combat roles. When you from your service especially know, that the majority of roles are not necessarily frontline. Even including seeing combat via ambushes and other guerilla tactics while in theatre those are much smaller numbers in comparison to the sprawling apparatus that supports those troops.
Second if Iām the Democrats this is a very simple pivot and attack. Good example here, this is what the Dems when asked should be doing every single time.
Actually, in both Iraq and Afghanistan, that āsprawling apparatusā often came under attack and sustained casualties as well. There were definitely no safe rear echelons there.
As Iāve mentioned before, one of my colleagues had a desk job in the Green Zone in Kabul, and he was literally shot dead at his desk at the Afghan Ministry of the Interior by a turncoat Afghan in an āinsider attack.ā
Fallen Warrior: Lt. Col. John D. Loftis > Keesler Air Force Base > Article Display.
I think I accounted for that as well
If youāre in theatre there are always risks and itās just a different measurement. But thereās still the many, many supporting roles not there.
Silly debate.
This is about registration. Nothing more.
There is no draft. Should the need for a draft arise in the future, the debate over whom to draft can be had then.
For now, register everyone.
As I said, thereās some backlash against that as well.
Of course thereās no draft, but the point is, a lot of people donāt want women to be registered/have to register, and want them to never even be considered in any future draft. As long as they are registered, they are under consideration, of course, and thatās anathema to those people.
I personally favor automatic registration for everyone, and, should a total war ever arise that requires one, a draft that would induct members of all genders.
But I caution that such a move, even just at the registration level, is likely to be unpopular and may not be a winning issue for Dems if they try to force it. Given that, they should proceed with caution
Itās a fake issue of faux outrage for the dummy crowd to be outraged about.
Thatās why if youāre the Dems you donāt debate it, see the rules about debating pigeons. You dismiss, pivot, and attack
Itās fair play in this day and age but like said, itās just registration as of now.
If Israel makes it work then it can here and weāre not at that point of a draft yet. Donāt women already willingly sign up for the army or national guard ?
Small scale fighting flares up between the two Koreas every now in then.
Back in 2010 when I was stationed there, we had THIS incident.
Dang, dude is kind of a prick
Well it is political Twitter. Kind of goes with the territory.
I agree, except in the case of a total war.
But as I said, in the event we have a draft, it should include all gender identities, as should any preparation for such a hypothetical draft in the form of mandatory/automatic registration.
Prob related to the China Taiwan issue.Trying to see what weād have in troop numbers.
A draft would be tough and protests would happen so itās prob best to leave it voluntary unless like said itās WW3. Mutual destruction has kept that kind of war from happening so far which is why I do support a strong military here. In war, I read only 10% are really brave and the rest want to simply survive and go home in drafts like WW2 ,Korea and Vietnam. So itās best to let volunteers join bc they want to fight like weāve done since nam.
Didnāt Elvis get drafted into army at age 23 in 1958.
1957ā¦not sure his age.
