Houston Astros 2023 Season on a daily roll

Not necessarily.

Framber
McCullers
Javier
Urquidy
Garcia
Brown

Not really lacking in quality starting pitching, if Verlander walks they will be fine and probably spend money on something else like CF, 1B, LF etc

Quality starting pitching without leadership doesn’t win championships, regardless of how good the stuff or upside is. He’s just as important as the pitching coach, imo.

Verlander is something like 8-0 this season in games after a loss. There’s not another stopper like that on the staff.

Besides, Crane and Verlander are tight - it would be surprising to see either of them walk away.

Speaking of Verlander, this is a nice article.

In a pennant race you gotta throw the feelings out and do what’s best for the org. Hanging a WS banner is a rarity. He wasn’t producing at the pro level. I think his performance would have hurt the team in the playoffs. He and Dubon can have a dance off. The loser goes to AA.

Meyers optioned to AAA……still waiting on who is coming up? Dirden? Brinson? Brown?

Diaz will also be called up per sources. Likely to be used at 1B or DH

Diaz played some OF this past week and did fine.

I noticed Brown came in mid inning in his last appearance……I’m sure that was by design…. This is a tryout to see if he will be a part of the playoff roster…. Bringing in a guy with his type stuff is a good thing.

And don’t look now but it looks like Forest is finally getting his :poop: together…… the other night he came in and hit 99.6 on the gun……pitched really well.

Hmmm…I like the call-ups. I thought they sent Forrest to Alaska or something.

Whatever his deal is, getting sent down to the minors at the same time as the September call-ups has to sting.

It was long overdue. The weaknesses were glaring n Baker gave him oppty after oppty to get through some of his ordeals. Playoffs are very near. Go Time!

Edit: these are all Janes Click & Co decisions but I’m sure they’re passed through Dusty regardless. But Dusty also doesn’t have time to follow or scout the top MiLB prospects either

I’m one of the that didn’t want to give up on him. I’m till hoping that he can pan out and be a real contributor to the rotation in the near future.

vs Matijevic (0-4) the night before…and 4 LOB.

Yeah, JJ not gonna make it….too much swing and miss.

Next group is Yainer, Dirden, Leon and maybe Lee( looks like he figured something out the last few weeks).

Won the first two games of what will amount to 18 straight against losing teams. Hopefully we go something ridiculous like 16-2 and lock up the best record in the AL.

So apparently the Astros offered Michael Conforto today but the deal is not happening.

Yanks only went 3-4 against the Angels and A’s. Pushes the Stros lead up to 5 games.

What is crazy is that the Yankees are in such a freefall that they could lose the AL East. They are only up 6 games on Tampa Bay.

This is one of the great collapses of all time.

ā€œGreatā€ in more than one sense, for all non Yankee fans.

Looks like the Astros dodged a bullet with Alvarez returning on Friday and Verlander returning after 15 day IL is completed. Let’s hope so.
