I believe in Coach Fritz

I would have hired Herman over Fritz.

He’s talking about the defense. The offense gave up 7 of those points.
But why don’t you also say that UNLV started on the UH side of the field 6 times, on the 50 once, and on the UNLV 45 once? Amazing to only give up 20 points with that field position. In the 7 possessions where they started on the 50 or closer, we gave up 6 points. That’s imptessive.

Herman walked into a stacked roster that was coming off a bowl win. Fritz walked into a steaming pile that Dana left under his desk. Everybody forgets how Herman left and who he left us for.

CWF was high on our DB’s and they missed coverage and tackles, even tackles on a QB! Maybe it was first game. Most kickers could have made those short FG’s and made it 33 pts.

And still gave up 0 TDs starting on our side of the field 7 times. If you can’t see that as an amazing defensive stat, you have blinders on.

I usually never blame the former coach
never. Until now.
Dana did so much damage with his lack of recruiting. We were in the 120’s when he left.
He was not even shy about it.
And he did this for YEARS.
When Art Briles, Kevin Sumlin, Tony Levine, Tom Hermans or Major Applewhite left, they were still trying to recruit at a high level. With Dana, he was completely disinterested.
After the starters, we were paper thin. When those guys jumped ship into the portal we were left with a HUGE player development program.
Fritz is a great coach and teacher, but he will need to get some talent. He is off to a strong start.

We don’t tackle much in practice which I don’t like or agree with

Good point. Shanked punts kill you every time.

Stupid of them to dial it back.

The G5 ONLY gets ONE playoff bid- the highest ranked Conference Champion.

If they could’ve put 90 on a P4 program
they should have done it, every single vote matters to them

Any coach who can take Tulane to a NYC6 game and win is full on football god.

Maybe this illustrates what potential UH has had over the years.

Also, I fully support CWF. However, speaking of Herman, if he was the coach last week (2015-2016 version) do the Cougars beat UNLV?

That’s probably what UT thought when they took Herman.

What works in one situation isn’t guaranteed to work in another.

In this theoretical, are we talking about pre-washout 2015-2016 Herman or the 2024 version that clearly lost whatever he had back then?

Comparing Houston and Tulane football history is like comparing a steak to ham

Actually, it’s more like Fritz needs $20M in NIL and he needs it now!

I think it would be interesting to consider the Herman from 2015-2016.

Considering a current version of him would mean an interest in having him here now
 hell no!

2016 Herman, who knew he needed to win a game to keep his next job lined up, could beat Bama with the Urbania Little Giants. Same guy after a big win, spending his time looking at Austin real estate, totally different story.

Full on contact tackling depends on how many players you have and if you are willing to risk people getting injured.

Come on. Winning and being a douche do not have to be linked.

Herman is one coaching example of what he brought to Houston.
There are many others that did not leave like that crap weasel did.
