that penn state is still better than auburn by a landslide… the scandal didnt stop them from beating ohio state 2 games prior …and penn state was a running team, they barely passed with either qb… and bolding had started other games for them…mggloin only won the sole starting job like game 6… losing a qb that had 130yds total per game didnt drop a 9-3 penn state down to a terrible auburn…

and there is so much bias in your posts… you remove context when its against your point and bring in meaningless color only when needed “penn state was dealing with stuff, not great qb didnt play”.
.
and yes the schedule was outlier in weakness…they were likely the very bottom in conference schedule strength since joining the swc,
im not going to blindly ignore context like your points, 2011 would be on the lower end as welll but its still better than that danas run, we had schedules of playing 1 or 2 teams with a winning record and then losing to 1 of them … its was obviously our worst schedules and yes an outlier bad

“his worst year was last year at 5-7 (his only non bowl eligible team)… that teams till beat #5 lsu, #13 miami and #10 Arkansas last year.”

Doesn’t that also mean the talent was there, but the coaching wasn’t.

Kind of agree with Pesik on this. Everyone in the SEC West can recruit & you’re gonna have 7-8 teams in one division that have top25 classes annually. Alabama, Texas, LSU, A&M, OU, Auburn, Ole Miss all do that. Whereas in the new Big 12 there’s no team in the top 25 right now in terms of recruiting. Jimbo was able to win 10-12 games a year at FSU with those t5 classes because the margins were a lot larger than in the SEC West where he didn’t have the ability to elevate the talent.

We need a young hungry top offensive mind from a top P5 school or a very successful G5 HC. No way to Jimbo

Just another once good coach who has seen the game pass him by. It happens all the time, in every sport, but especially in college football, it seems. We need a young, dynamic coach who can energize the program, and will stick around for a few years to build his resume.

That would make Hartline as close to Texas recruiting as Dana

Kevin Sumlin was 51-26 at A&M and Jimbo was 45-25.

I’d take Jimbo in a heartbeat IF and only IF:

  • no ridiculous contract and he’s making par for the course for Big12 coaches.

  • he has to have young eager yet successful OC and DC and position coaches

Jimbo can recruit and is a figure head, head coach. he could do good things at UH if he surrounded himself with real on field coaches.

When are we going to stop paying college coaches based on EXPECTATIONS and start paying them based on RESULTS? (like, uh, how the rest of the world operates minus pro-sports) They are not professional athletes, they are University Employees!
These Universities have fiduciary responsibilities to be stewards of common sense with our donations.

The sooner A&M hires someone, the sooner the new coach can start recruiting. I sure wish UH had the same mindset.

Are you insane?

That just may turn out to be Jeff Traylor. Actually based on what I have read, Elko is probably the second choice after Dabo, but I doubt they’ll get him. Traylor could be a great coach for UH.

What we need is a coach that can give us 5 years and establish a sustainable winning program not a slam bam thank you ma’am off to greener pastures coach.
