Isn’t that exactly what they did with Maldonado?
Nobody is cutting loose the 60M man and replacing him with Yuli or anyone else.
And I just watched him strike out on a clock violation AFTER he had timeout.
That dude needs a hard reset.
Got confused…watching T&F. Was it Abreu that took the time strike? I thought it was Julks at first based on the thread title. If Abreu, not sure what the answer is, sucks for everyone.
I’d say for any UH alum it should be called a 711 robbery.
Ok that was REALLY funny.
I don’ fault the Astros for taking a shot with Abreu. You roll the dice and take your chances. But letting a decision sink your season because of embarrassment is not sound business practice. I think this is what frustrates a lot of us about Dusty.
Its very clear that Abreu is not going to play like an MVP this season. He really hasn’t batted like a starting MLB first baseman.
Abreu was awful the first two months of the season but had a solid June. He had an .821 ops and 21 rbis.
Nice message from Julks.

Isn’t this a thread for Abreu bashing?

Thanks for trying to get it back to proper Subject matter.
I think Abreu’s at a point now where they should just stick with him. He’s looked a lot better at the plate for a solid month now.
Abreu is at his highest OPS of the year and still below every season he’s ever played. Abominable. Thanks for reminding us that Abreu is still hitting clean up.
What is your issue Funk. No idea what you’re even responding to. This is a Thread for Corey Julks - former Coog. Trying to keep Abreu talk off the Julks thread. I haven’t said 1 word abt Abreu and where he’s hitting in lineup or how he’s hitting. Good lord!! ![]()

Julks may be a star in the making. He has the combination of power and speed. He’s also a solid OF.
So far he’s been almost exactly a league average hitter, just under. 99 OPS+ thru yesterday
Not sure about this year, but last year, the all league average was .243.
Julks is beating that.
He’s looking at Ops+ which is a better measure of a hitter vs batting average.
Julks is 27. He’s been a respectable player this year but doesn’t have star potential. That said, he’s outperforming expectations and has been a very important piece this year for the Astros.
I can’t believe you just compared a player to “batting average of the entire league”
This is not your realm law.
Head back over to the politics board.
I’m just saying his batting average is better than the all league average.
Whether people think that that is a worthwhile stat or not is on them.
