Latest Bowl Projections

The On3 is the weird Texas Bowl vs UTSA.

The Athletic is Texas vs LSU… This is against SEC selection criteria.

Sporting News is Liberty vs Tennessee

Some of the projections look lazy, like they just went down the standings placing teams, one guy even have Utah in the Alamo Bowl against USC.

I don’t see BYU going to San Antonio 2 years in a row.

No, this is not the year to play the cows. If we can progress in a few areas (OL being one) and keep the team somewhat intact with key players staying with us, then we might be ready for 'em in a couple of years. Wish it would be sooner, but sometimes reality sucks.

I know they were at the bottom of the Big XII list of Bowl teams but looks like K-State is not going bowling

Sources tell @FootballScoop that Kansas State football intends not to accept a bowl invitation. Am told the program held a players’ vote & the decision was no bowl game.

So he is retiring immediately? Can’t even coach a bowl? Seems like screwing over the team. Especially the seniors

Even more reason to root for BYU this weekend

Though I didn’t mention any bovine in my post [it was about the Texas Bowl] the notion that we’d be embarrassed by anyone in any bowl is unfounded and overly pessimistic.

So no one has a clue at this point, and everyone is guessing.

No more so than so-called fans who post stuff like this.

One important thing to look at: Texas performance on the road this year. They has 5 real road game plus a neutral site game for OU. They beat OU, but in the other 5 games, they looked pretty bad losing 3 and going to OT to beat both Kentucky and MissSt. And they would’ve lost to Kentucky and MissSt if the opposing coaches were merely competent.

A game with UT at the Texas bowl would be like a home game for us. I think we have a better shot than you think.

Just like they did in 2023 when they were a FAR superior squad?

If you read the bowl projections, they go on and on about the playoffs and then have a part at the bottom for other bowls, clearly the writers are not putting a lot of effort in or they would be accounting for some of the issues we are discussing here.

If I were setting odds I would say 80% Alamo, 18% Texas 2% something else.

NRG would at best be a neutral site game for us at worse a road game. We can’t complain about home attendance and then talk about how great the attendance will be 15 minutes away.

Also unless something weird happens Texas will be in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan. They think they are going to win by 17.

Useless Tidbit:

If UH is invited to the Pop Tarts Bowl and Texas is invited to the Citrus Bowl, both games would be played at the same stadium, Camping World Stadium, in Orlando Florida, four days apart.

Linda and I really enjoyed going to the Las Vegas Bowl. Let me correct that, we enjoyed Las Vegas but the bowl game sucked.

No matchup with UT in the Texas Bowl. They would murder us!

You like to repeat that one every chance you get.

This is wrong, in so many ways…

  1. UH would likely have almost their entire roster. Certainly more than Texas would have of theirs.
  2. UH has exceeded expectations this year. Texas has disappointed.
  3. UH players would be thrilled to play Texas. The “visa versa” is not the case.
  4. No real UH fan would post this.

If UH does play Texas, I hope Texas murders UH like USC murdered Tulane in the Cotton bowl a few years ago…

Exactly. He posted the same thing twice. This reminds me of pre season “scientists”

That is incredibly weak.

The program should be embarrassed.

Their coach retired….new coach named.

Even without a head coach they have an entire staff that could lead this team.

It sounds like a bunch of lazy ass players IMO….there is no way the entire team “voted” not to play.

Also, why would they get a share of the conference bowl money if they had an opportunity to contribute but chose not to?

I mean common, there is no way we could possibly compete with a team that lost to Florida….or a team that needed overtime to beat Mississippi State and Kentucky….

We would get “murdered “ by a team that beat UTEP 27-10….how could we stay competitive?
