No, this is not the year to play the cows. If we can progress in a few areas (OL being one) and keep the team somewhat intact with key players staying with us, then we might be ready for 'em in a couple of years. Wish it would be sooner, but sometimes reality sucks.
I know they were at the bottom of the Big XII list of Bowl teams but looks like K-State is not going bowling
Sources tell @FootballScoop that Kansas State football intends not to accept a bowl invitation. Am told the program held a players’ vote & the decision was no bowl game.
Though I didn’t mention any bovine in my post [it was about the Texas Bowl] the notion that we’d be embarrassed by anyone in any bowl is unfounded and overly pessimistic.
One important thing to look at: Texas performance on the road this year. They has 5 real road game plus a neutral site game for OU. They beat OU, but in the other 5 games, they looked pretty bad losing 3 and going to OT to beat both Kentucky and MissSt. And they would’ve lost to Kentucky and MissSt if the opposing coaches were merely competent.
A game with UT at the Texas bowl would be like a home game for us. I think we have a better shot than you think.
Just like they did in 2023 when they were a FAR superior squad?

If you read the bowl projections, they go on and on about the playoffs and then have a part at the bottom for other bowls, clearly the writers are not putting a lot of effort in or they would be accounting for some of the issues we are discussing here.
If I were setting odds I would say 80% Alamo, 18% Texas 2% something else.

NRG would at best be a neutral site game for us at worse a road game. We can’t complain about home attendance and then talk about how great the attendance will be 15 minutes away.
Also unless something weird happens Texas will be in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan. They think they are going to win by 17.
If UH is invited to the Pop Tarts Bowl and Texas is invited to the Citrus Bowl, both games would be played at the same stadium, Camping World Stadium, in Orlando Florida, four days apart.
I mean common, there is no way we could possibly compete with a team that lost to Florida….or a team that needed overtime to beat Mississippi State and Kentucky….
We would get “murdered “ by a team that beat UTEP 27-10….how could we stay competitive?
