"1. Will Grier, QB: If you’re one of the fans still hung up on the inability of Holgorsen and his staff to recruit elite quarterback talent out of the high school ranks, I can’t help you. If you are a fan of talent, regardless of how, why or when it landed at WVU, then this is for you. "
It seems this is Dana’s MO. Like it and embrace it. He knows what is up.
That’s the same evaluation those Chicago Bears fans said to me when I told them they made a mistake picking Mitch Trubustsky over Deshaun Watson! They said Deshaun had terrible throwing motion while Mitch’s was picture-prefect ideal QB throwing motion! Yeah, we saw how that went!
Yes, and he did have offers from Middle Tennessee State, Tennessee-Martin and Western Kentucky. So hopefully, he’s a diamond in the rough that surprises us all and becomes the offensive player-of-the-year in the Big 12.
I know we are recruiting the stud from Kinkaid’s SPC 4A state champion.
But I am guessing that he may very well be one of the only, if not the only player, in this year’s recruiting class, that becomes an impact I-FBS player from a private.
In my own time, Kinkaid’s Alan Luther became a starter for UT, as I recall, at OT.
But players like that coming from the private school ranks (other than the two Jesuit schools, which have UIL 6A talent and competition) are quite exceptional. They are almost the exceptions that prove the rule.
