Maddox hits the transfer portal

We have a thread for him.

It seems nobody wants him here.

I get the feeling if he were QB for us and things started going a bit south he would not be the leader we need to pick up the team.

He had no problem playing Tune after King bailed on us and Tune was very young and inexperienced in 2019.

He had no choice but to play Tune.

Party because his QB roster consisted of 2 scholarship players (King and Tune), a walk-on that never played (Ike), and another walk on who was his son.

According to one of the coaches at Kinkaid, he has committed to Georgia.

Kubes was awesome, we might have won District at Waltrip with him. Nahhh, Spherris woulda goofed him up.

Let’s see

in the last five years, Episcopal graduates:

Marvin Wilson: FSU and now Philadelphia practice squad
Walker Little: Stanford and now Jacksonville
Jaylen Waddle: Alabama and now Miami.

Donovan Jackson: 2021 EHS grad. Ohio State freshman. Their highest rated ol recruit. 5*

Four pretty good exceptions from one private school.

Not a fan of the portal at all, but it is what it is. A modified version of it would be okay, where the player could not transfer before spending 2 years on campus or 3 if Red Shirted.

Two years ago he stuck with true sophomore Tune; Dana will play who he thinks gives the Coogs the best chance to win.

Exactly. People seem to want to make this about some kind of shortcoming with the coach or something. The kid’s classification isn’t what buried him on the depth chart.

uhlaw97,

Alan spent more time with me at Memorial than he did at Kinkaid practicing and working out.

I agree with you that the Pvt SchoolS are trying to find a Diamond in the rough.

Are you referring to Maddox? If so, that doesn’t make much sense since the chances of him starting is probably slimmer than here.

No hes talking about the Kinkaid wr Dillon Bell. He is committed to Georgia, but still taking visits and talking with other programs, of which we are one

Okay, thanks!

Maybe times have changed then.

I don’t remember EHS producing any I-FBS signees back in my time (late 80s). Hell, my Senior year at SJS (Fall 1989), we beat Episcopal something like 46-7, and we didn’t have any I-FBS signees in my Sr. Class, although one guy did ultimately walk-on at Rice, so as you can imagine, the talent base at EHS, being on the losing end of that, must have been pretty bare bones.

That’s typical of private HS football in TX, excepting the Jesuit schools.

The people that we had that played college football at SJS in my time as a general rule played at D3 liberal arts colleges, non-scholarship.

coogjim57’s grandson is about the best prospect to come out of SJS in MANY years, and he’s going I-FCS.

Hehe. You going way back on me!

EHS didn’t open until 1983 with 150 students. They were lucky to field a team until the 90’s!

That said, the whole landscape of private school recruiting has changed in the last 10 years. Many privates, including Kinkaid and St. John’s have adopted the “sports is the front porch” approach to recruiting. The endowments of the privates has gone through the roof with the rise of the stock market and there is plenty of scholly money available for scholarships.
