Mercy Miller

my take on the situation:

could he leave:
very possible, there are lots of roles master p could have taken to be a figure head, he chose one that allows him to be heavily involved with the basketball team.

uno only incentive to give him this position is to get players… this is NIL motivated or to get his son/maybe both

people knocking UNO for being a low level school, UNO made the ncaa tournament or NIT For almost every year from like 86 to 97… the story of reviving your cities team that used to be good in a poor conference was literally our story just a few years ago. and we got players…
and gilbert arenas “give my son every shot” mentality, could be something he is after … and you can transfer after any year, he could just do that for 1 season and transfer, or ja morant it and go NBA

him leaving is a real possibility, at the same time… im predicting he stays, but that on the assumption that we are losing some players that arent senior and theres a real path to pt

about his Game:
mercy struggles are clealry adjustment struggles … he reminds of jamal not in the style of play, but he just hasnt found his footing… if we didnt care about winning ad gave him 20 shots a game to figure out for like 8 games… the 1st 3 games would be terrible, by game 7 and 8 he’d be one of the best freshmen in the country… i have question about his shot, but even still hed be a keshon gilbert type players who is an all-american scoring as a driver … and if his shot improves he could be a rob gray level scorer for us

Given how CKS handles his rotation, I think Mercy, as a true freshman, even seeing the floor speaks about how CKS feels about him. I remember Jamal dribbling out the clock against Wisconsin as a freshman.

As @pesik says, everyone grows/develops differently, they’re growing pains. I’m expect Mercy has been getting some tough love from CKS. But, I’m sure the veteran players are talking with him so he doesn’t get too down on himself.

With the gambling probe going on at UNO, I wouldn’t want to go near that program. Their record alone suggests it’s a dumpster fire. Master P may be the guy to clean up the mess or not, but I would be surprised if he took Mercy.

You are either a troll or a a drama queen.
I could have highlighted many parts of your post as “nonsense “ but I suspected troll so didn’t feel like it.

I don’t see how he stays. If I was betting $, I think he leaves.

Russell fyi, he’s been on here for good while, not new. I didn’t even read any of the post this is concerning, just letting you know he’s a long time Coog just like yourself.

Jamal was a sophomore against Wisconsin. He saw very little playing time against anyone his freshman year other than the Our Lady of the Lake, where he recorded a triple-double

Tramon Mark should have stayed. Miller should stay as well.

This is from his papercity interview written on 1/8/25… you think he’ll become a defensive stopper at UNO…

We were a different program then. We were good. We weren’t “5 straight sweet 16s” good.

Once again, Sampson wanted the kid but he followed his dad to Detroit of all places.
My point, without proof, is that Mercy could follow his dad to UNO.
It was actually a bigger deal when we lost Davis, but yes our program is better now and we would have no problem finding a replacement

I think what people are saying is that a player would be less likely to leave the program now, with what we’ve become, than before. Who knows with each situation, but I think that’s a valid consideration.

Say what you want about all the previous teams, but that team was so special. Same with the 21-22 team on that legendary eight man, but that 18-19 team was special.

Do y’all think that team would have been able to compete with these teams? They were a high scoring team.

Also, I’m pretty sure Mercy stays. He’s been committed to UH since he was pretty much a baby. This wouldn’t be a reason for him to change.

Like Coach said about a week ago. He knows now who is staying and who is going and he doesn’t seem bothered at all. Beat Cincy!

Sure but people still gonna talk about it. That’s what message boards are for.

Not to overly snarky, maybe a little bit, but does it really matter all that much?

We’ll have success regardless. He’ll have success regardless.

That said, I hope he stays.

Mercy has potential, but he is as raw as a steak in the wrapper. I can see him developing into a really good player if he stays, but it may take a couple of years.

I want Mercy to stay, learn from Sampson, and become a NBA prospect. Mercy goes to New Orleans, puts up good numbers, is the centerpiece of the offense, but never learns how to be a NBA player. I will take what is best for my long term future.

I remember when Coogfans were sure Jamal was leaving or saying we need to bring in a PG. Most of these comments we will look back on with ridicule

Saw that one in person.
