Tugler will be better than Francis next season. Francis has zero offensive game. He can catch a lob when his man helps on a Shead drive. He is really bad with the ball a couple feet from the goal. He is excellent on defense. His position needs to be upgraded and I think it will.
Flopkowski had a drive late where he scored on Francis by committing at least 3 offensive fouls. I know he got the basket but that was some tough defense by Francis. I think Francis will add some offensive by next season. Our bigs usually have really good senior seasons.

Flopowski is not strong like Klingan or the doughboy from NCST. He throws elbows to the chest to make space. Passive-aggressive. And he has his geisha boy to complain for him. I hate Duke.

That’s why you need those types of guys - if they perform the media salivates over them and they tend to get calls even though they initiate the contact

The Duke Center outscored Francis 16 to 7. The remaining Cougar players outscored their Duke counterparts 44- 38.
There is the entire game. Not to mention that Francis shot 1 for 4 at the FT line, including an air ball. People have defended him by claiming that Francis practices free throws, hitting 88 out of 100. Ever seen a guy hit 88% in practice, then shoot air balls in a game?
Francis is an extreme liability on Offense. Tremendous on Defense. All his scoring came when Shead drove to the basket, drawing defenders, then throwing a lob for an easy dunk. More than 3 feet away from the bucket Francis cannot hit anything.
Sampson has filled our Center position with one year transfers from UConn and High School projects. This automatically puts tremendous pressure on our Guards and wing players. They cannot miss. Have to score.
Saying that each Center will be better “next season” because that always happens is to discard the current season. Who got better this Season? The guy who scored 7 vs Duke and shot air balls?
I see this as a perpetual recruiting problem. I just do. Feel free to disagree. I have watched all of the teams in The Sweet 16. Have watched their Centers play. Who would Francis beat out for a starting spot on the other 15 teams?

We mostly played JWan, not Francis, on their center so not really apples to apples.
Does not matter. They scored 16, we scored 7 at that position.

So to counter that in the front court J’Wan beat the Duke 4 13-2 so the front court in this instance is a wash. Now I don’t disagree that if Francis wants to stay on the court he has to improve offensively. But this isn’t necessarily your strongest point in the argument.

Don’t forget that he hit three 3s for them. Bringing in a center that can do that is the least of my worries but it would be nice if our bigs didn’t miss so many damn put backs around the rim. The one Francis missed towards the end was a killer.

Uh…Flopowski is on the Wooden ballot, 3rd team All America, Associated Press All ACC. Francis wasn’t on Flopowski for the entire game. Roberts was. Francis is playing his first season as a regular on a team that shoots predominately 3-pointers.

College basketball is not predicated on one player being the best. It’s predicated on chemistry. And the reason most of us expect Francis to be better next season is because of his excellent improvement over last season.
He’s not going anywhere. Expect him and Tuggler to split 40 minutes a game next year. You don’t leave a freak like Francis on the bench.

Francis is awesome on defense, and lobs, and solid at rebounding. He has zero offense otherwise, this cannot be refuted. At times it can be a liability. Roberts is really good down low offensively if you ask me (by UH Sampson big guy standards at least). I want Francis on the team for sure but I’d prefer his energy as the first big off the bench. Will help with his fouls too. Tugler and Roberts to start. Francis off the bench playing a ton of minutes. Hope Roberts comes back.
