New Softball HC- Chrissy Schoonmaker

I was just using the “excitement” terminology because of the hyperbolic statement from the poster who said that NO ONE is excited about her hire. I’m excited about her only because of the fact that a change was made finally. Whoever the next hire is in baseball there will a similar level of “excitement”.

I think the difference here is those guys have the track record of building very successful programs. Schoonmaker had only four years of HC experience, all in the A-10, and had a career record of 113-92. She did coach at UH, but that was 12 seasons ago so I can’t imagine her having a youth pipeline in the area being that she’s coached strictly in the Northeast since she left. Time will tell but I just can’t imagine she was the most qualified candidate. Something tells me this was a salary hire.

That was my first thought as well, but regardless if that was reason why, some posters need to give time. Unless you pay your star pitcher 1.2 million that is.

Speaking of that. Who was our last dominant pitcher? Crabtree? Feels like it’s been at least a decade since we had a workhorse in the circle that could shut teams down.

Like every new head coach, this coach just got her one regulation “freebie” sucky first season.

The only thing is…recruiting wise…who has she signed that would give us the sensation of likely improvement next year? Just asking.

I mean, women’s basketball is basically in the same boat, but the transfer class that coach is putting together seems VERY impressive. It’d be shocking if that team didn’t take a big step up next year.

Just wondered if there were similar indications for softball thus far.

Sorry, but D-1 athletics is not all rainbows and cotton candy kid.

You need to transfer to a different program and not go on a public message board to whine about it.

It’s a horrible, immature look and i guarantee that other players and now coaches have seen your ranting.

Good luck with that.

Also, get to some tutoring sessions and ask them about punctuation.

Donna Bourgeois was also there at the same time, really good. She was a transfer from ULL, Crabtree transferred from Ok lite. Awesome battery, also right after Donna and Amanda, with the Outon twins

One of UH’s scouts was at Ganado (my high school’s) softball game last week watching our 2027 pitching commitment Saylor Bures. She has 700 carreer high school strikeouts.

We are in the state semi-finals this week. Games will be 6 p.m Wednesday and Thursday at Cy Fair High School. Saturday 2 p.m. if needed.

Will do. We won our first softball title in 2025 and with her being a junior we are hoping to win 2 more.

Shiner who is in our district will play for a title at 1:00 and Ganado at 10:00 Thursday. That’ll be the 2nd year in a row we both have played for a title out of the same district.

Did you know the Twins from Shiner who played for UH softball in the early 2000s? Valis twins

I don’t. We moved to Ganado from Tomball in 2001. I think I saw them at a UH game I attended in the early 2000’s.

My sister won a softball title at Katy Faith West in 2001 before playing at Bossier Parrish Community College for one year. Joined the army and is still in.

Pearland, Katy, Liberty, Barbers Hill and Montgomery Lake Creek are all playing for a title.

If that is a student-athlete then I am horribly worried about our university’s academic standards. That grammar makes Honey Badger look like the head of Linguistics at Oxford.
