Next Head Coach

So with Brandon leaving, the departures begin?
What a fiasco.

Gang,

I only have one question.

SUPPOSE…we had been like Tulane, and gone 19-40, but made the tourney.

Would Whiting still be on the chopping block? I assume the answer is yes, but just curious.

Corral is not the guy you want. I have followed his career closely from Oklahoma to Mizzou. His style of “pitching to contact” does not work well in today’s game. There are too many great hitters out there to just throw it down the pike.

I expect a lot of departures, but maybe with us moving to Big 12 players will want to stay even though we will finish in bottom tier next year

We fired Applewhite after a winning season and making a bowl game, why not fire Whitting after getting embarrassed at a Regional, especially if he had a regular season record like Tulane’s?

My prediction was we make a Super Regional or he gets fired. Oh well, can’t always be right.

Well, my prediction was that if he finished first (regular season or tourney), he’d keep his job.

Of course, he didn’t, but it looks like he’ll still keep his job, so I wasn’t any closer to being right.

I don’t know enough about the merits of pitching to contact vs. running up high pitch counts to go for strikeouts. But Justin Parker, the pitching coach at South Carolina, is pitching to contact and SC is hosting a regional after being terrible last year. I haven’t done a deep dive on their pitching stats, but maybe there is something there?

Malachai Lott and Tommy Eagan have entered the portal.

I think Burkel did too

The way things are going, our next baseball coach may not have been born yet.

Didn’t that happen with Briles with the S&C staff?

In the last 4 years (+ the COVID year): Coach A is 116-120 & 55-49 in AAC. 1 NCAA appearance.
Coach B is 150-106 & 55-47 in AAC. 0 NCAA.
Coach C is 130-114 & 49-50 in AAC. 0 NCAA. Coach A just resigned at Cincinnati; Coach B was fired by UCF. UH is extending Coach C. #Big12

Curious what dirt TW has on Pez because keeping him makes no sense.

Obviously The Big Cigars like CTW…only explanation for keeping him

Heck, Baylor hired a local Juco coach.

He is a really good coach. Rodriguez just left the cupboard bare. It is going to be really hard for him to turnover the roster given the rules the Baptist’s play by.

So the “Big Cigars” would rather have a team get embarrassed in the Big 12 than be dominate in the Big 12 because they like/feel sorry for a guy.

It’s not middle school.
