Iām always on the bandwagon.
WF rare eye for under recruited, high ceiling guys.
Add the recruiting/ portal osmosis of P4 in Htown.
Ex 1.
See offers. Not underscouted.
Entire P4 staffs at West Monroe regularly.
3 of the great recent SEC OTs - Whitworth, Cam Robinson, Top 5 in 25 pick Will Campbell walked those halls.

My Boy CWF has made this thread real quiet lol!
I donāt like the way the football team has performed this year either, but Iām not going to make such crazy negative comments like so many, when I knew that CWFās MO has been bad first years. Itās the long term that I had prepared myself for.
My expectations begin next year when he has his first āthoroughbredā recruiting class beginning, especially when I knew the pathetic state that Dana left the program in. This is not the type of situation that Herman inherited in his first season.
CWF has won every where he has been.
He is going to win here as well.
Pardee won four games his first year and finished second to last in the SWC.
I think we will get another win, either Baylor or Arizona and Willie will have 4 wins.
If you ever wondered what would have happened if Pardee had stayed you are about to find out with Willie. They are the same coach.
Neither did Sampson in year one. He was 4-14 in the American that year.
Weāve already been through the fact the two situations are not comparable in any way
Do you think that they have the same offensive philosophy?
I think we could beat KS next week by 1 point and there would be 13 threads wanting to fire Fritz because we didnāt lead the nation in pass attempts.
Sure they are. Both were year one coaches taking over poorly run programs. Truth of the matter, Sampson had it worse.
Everybody understands those are 2 different sports, but similar situations.
Except that CWF and the football program had the backing of the most resources ever and CKS started the basketball program with the worst resources in our history.
One had 25k season ticket holders the previous year and the other took over a program that had attendance in the 100s the previous year.
No comparisonā¦the football HC job is infinitely in better shapeā¦had we hit on a QB transfer, in the offseason, CWF would have us competing for the Big 12 championship in year ONE!
Iāll let yāall that are far more versed in the strategy of Xās and Oās debate that but what I do know is Leadership⦠and Willie has that in buckets.
I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep. I am afraid of a army of sheep led by a lion
Iām always on the Fritz and Coogs bandwagon win or lose. Once a Coog always a Coog. Letās Gooooo
Itās much easier to turn over a basketball roster need just a few great athletes, football has 105 on roster two totally different scenarios
Definitely NOT in better shape in terms of returning talent though, and thatās what matters more.
Fritz had only one or two returning defensive starters, and only one returning O-Lineman.
Dozens of players left, including several now starting at other P4 programs.
Thatās a NIGHTMARE scenario for any returning coach.
ESPECIALLY in football.
In basketball, two or three recruits is enough to turn things around. NOT in football.
So no.
Based on that, I REJECT the notion that Fritz came into a better or easier to fix situation. In many ways, he inherited a BIGGER challenge.
You have NOT answered my analogy successfully given that.
As I said, BOTH are either getting or have previously gotten their regulation āfreebieā sucky first season.
Given how little returning talent Fritz had to work with, itās a miracle we arenāt in last place.
āWe beat Utah by 3 but that made them 4-4. Now people will think we didnāt beat a winning team!ā

āAnd they had a back-up QB. Our secondary must be garbage!ā
I can still remember Jack saying you win with defense and donāt forget that the first word in run and shoot is run.
Willie is saying the same thing. I think he would stretch the field if we had the players to do it. We simply donāt have the players to do it.
We donāt have the wideouts, or Spoon and Kimble Anders, or more importantly the offensive linemen left behind by Yeoman.
Yeoman left a lot of talent.
UH football is so boring that the lady next to us fell asleep. We did not score a single point from within the red zone. How many on here think we would have won in overtime if the field-goal attempt had failed.
I think we would have because our defense at least matched theirs and our kicking game was better.
Iād still rather have our current OL than what we had in the R&S. Iāll take our current RBs over Spoon and Anders.
Those R&S guys are all late 50s now, I donāt think their knees would allow them to go more than two plays in a row before subbing out.
