OT: Baylor Fires Dave Aranda

With the 2019 National Championship PLAYERS!!!

Why?

That Wildcard list are washed up D-list coaches that would be better suited for a reality TV series living in the same house.

Which part?

Traylor has wanted out of UTSA for a while. He’d love to have the Baylor job.

The wildcard list is a group of retreads and one never was. Things ended very badly for all of them in their last stop (or will whenever Norvell and Lebby are finally fired, both schools would love for someone to take them of their hands), even the retreads.

Why is he considered a fall back plan? He seems like a competent coach. His UTSA Roadrunners look like they may play for the AACCG.

Yeah, timing is strange, but it doesnt seem to matter how Baylor does, their people want him out…What if they win 8 or 9 games? Guess we’ll see…

They won 7 games the two years before that. I’d be really surprised if he were their top choice. He’s competent but not a rock star by any stretch.

In any case, he’s not the dream list. They could have him whenever they want him.

Dana , with his spiced up Red Bull cocktail, in a can in hand.

Baylor would have replaced Aranda last year, but AD Mack Rhodes resigned abruptly, and Aranda was retained for continuity purposes. New Baylor AD Doug McNamee can now hire his own football coach.

Dave Aranda will land on his feet.

That will be true even if he never coaches again. :slightly_smiling_face:

Traylor would seem to be a good fit for Baylor. Could see Kinne or Dawson as well

USC fans seem to think Baylor is going to come in and grab Riley.

Don’t think he’s a Waco kind of guy.

It may be wishful thinking on their part but I think the main sentiment is that they plan on effectively forcing him out and figure he’ll be happy enough to jump back to the B12 where he’s had success.

I’ve been a pro Willie Fritz guy since 2014 so I’ve never been a Traylor guy. I’ve always felt Traylor is a Holgorsen 2.0 type of head coach.

Let’s see…

  • Is Baylor’s brand better than USC? No.
  • Is Baylor’s brand equal to USC? No.
  • Is Baylor’s brand worse than USC? Yes.

No reason for Riley to take a step down in coaching. Even if he is fired, which is unlikely, Riley will have better options.

He may not be a California type of guy, either.

He’s from Muleshoe, played at Tech and spent most of his coaching career at Tech, East Carolina and OU.

Maybe, just saying what USC fans are talking about.

Decent chance that Riley is gone after this season.

No,he doesn’t go to Baylor.

Sheppard will be on the radar for a lot of schools. I hope he doesn’t go to Baylor.
