It ain’t about “not caring.”
It’s about NOT KNOWING and NOT HEARING.
Every true college football fan, regardless of team loyalty, has heard of and knows about the USC v ND rivalry.
Period. Full stop.
Not knowing about that ranks right up there with not hearing/not knowing that Michigan v Ohio State is a rivalry.
Never watched it…never heard about it.
The others…Yes!

Why in the world would i care about an independent and a PAC school that A) has no Conference championship implications and B) doesn’t directly affect the Houston Cougars in any way???
At least M/OS, UT/OU, Alabama/Auburn, Alabama/LSU are CONFERENCE GAMES.
Apparently the public agrees as they are PULLING THE PLUG on USC/ND and im proud to say i never fell for that type of Rivalry.

Hell, I don’t really care about either team or their rivalry. But because I am an actual college football fan, like every other college football fan, I’ve heard of it/know about it.

Im not a College Fan FIRST…im a Houston Cougar fan FIRST and I didn’t become even interested in other Conference games until WE had a path to the post season and National Championship…that’s the only thing i care about.
Watching a private school in a pro market that hasn’t been competitive in 20 years vs the biggest prima donna isn’t “Must watch TV for me”…sorry, not Conference mates…not even in the same conference so little playoff implications.
In fact, USC is playing i the ALAMO Bowl and ND in no Bowl at all.
Yawn…next!

ND is ND but also a northern college; many coogfans really do not pay attention to anything college football not around these parts; i have been in many houses in houston on the holidays that don’t talek about the michigan ohio state game.
i dont blame anyone down south not getting jazzed about a ND rivalry, i could care less about the iron bowl and in farmington michigan, the texas ou game is no big deal.

Every college football fan knows about/has heard of that rivalry because it’s one of, if not THE biggest in the game.
You don’t have to care about it to be a college football fan, but you have to at least know about it/have heard about it.
You haven’t, so you’re not a college football fan.

I don’t get jazzed about either game and rarely watch either one.
But at least I’ve heard of the rivalries and know how big they are.
Cullen hasn’t though. Speaks volumes.
Yeah…no interest in a game vs 2 private schools where neither are conference mates of UH and 100% of our post SWC days…it had zero impact on UH’s post season plans.
At least Army/Navy featured a conference mate and i NEVER watched that one either before Navy became a member of our Conference.
In 2015…it actually mattered TO UH.

Every true college football fan knows about those two rivalries (OSU v Mich and ND v USC), even if they aren’t interested in the games themselves.

Will they though? They could be given Rutgers, Maryland and Purdue. Makes Northwestern look like a quality opponent.
USC is just making excuses.
They simply can’t afford a late season loss with the playoffs on the line.

Now…im a bigger new age fan once they started introducing things like a 4 team playoff…a 12 team playoff…NIL…transfer portal…realignment etc.
That stuff gets me excited to watch…not USC v ND and apparently they agree with my take
