How about the big boy from UCONN?
I wasn’t that high on him initially but he is a lot more athletic than I originally thought.
Apparently his three ball is pretty good even though he has not used it in games.

Like who?
IMO the Rockets have two glaring needs to become a playoff team.
Elite shooter
Rim protector
Reed Sheppard answers one question
Jalen Green in a trade gets you the second piece
I think you have enough fire power with FVV, Sengun, Whitmore, Amen, and Jabari for offense.
Sheppard could be lethal for us on HPO with Sengun because he can hit from 26-27 ft with no issues. It stretches the floor and gives Alpie space to work.
Jalen can bring you a solid room protector/rebound F/C piece. Renting on Adams to be that guy behind Alpie is silly. Thompson, Smith, and Cam take another step forward and you’re easily a 7-8 seed
He is still a project and his shot still needs work. We have a lot of guys under rookie deals and can’t afford to wait on a guy like Risacher to blossom. His upside is definitely the highest in the draft but then you start having to make hard decisions on max contracts when Sengun Ann Jabari are coming out of their rookie deals.
They aren’t trading Green after the great run he had in the second half of the season.
Whitmore is gonna be better that Green IMO.
And damn, Eason is gonna be soooo solid if he can stay healthy.
Hearing rumors about trading the 3rd pick for Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets, a 3 & D Wing. The Rockets have a decent young core but I don’t believe there is one player on this team who is not tradable …this rebuild has taken way too long and I hope this GMs clock is ticking…I was use to Morey stripping teams like he did with Lowry, Scola and others and revamp a team much quicker…with a trade for Harden like he did back in 2012 and constantly making big moves every offseason.,this GM has the trading assets to make it happen now or he can stick with the core and add some pieces…this is the offseason I say he either makes it happen and make this a contending team or it’s time to look for a new GM…
I wouldn’t mind drafting a young PG and developing him to be Van Fleets replacement.
Yeah this team can’t afford projects anymore…last offseason they went on a shopping spree which leads me to believe that Tillman is getting tired of this long rebuild…I see it as make it happen with this core this year and add some pieces or it’s time to think about a new direction…keep some of the young core and coach and make a big move
Never been a fan of Green to be honest…nor was I big on Amen Thompson who decided to skip the collegiate level. There are intangibles a player lacks when they skip a level and come straight out of high school. Not unless a player has Kobe or Lebron skills would I draft a player who skipped a crucial level and a point in their life that make them men…
I would package him and the number 3 pick in a trade.
It wasn’t the second half. It was one month of elite offensive performance. Green is no doubt the most talented player we have offensively but it’s pure 1-on-1 iso or high screens to get him going. I really thought he would have come out of his sophomore slump a lot sooner but he only thrives when the ball isn’t moving. I honestly think Amen, Whitmore, and a guy like Sheppard are a better fit when the offense runs through Alpie.
And you want the offense to run through Alpie.
Let it play out guys, trust the process!!!
Stone has a damn love affair with Bridges….i don’t get it.
We can do better.
Amen is going to be a stud.
He has near triple double potential….give him a minute.
Point is they aren’t going to give up on him too early as long as they feel the work ethic is there. I was all for trading Green last season but I am glad they didn’t at that time. The light did come on for him and he was dominant for an extended period of time. Then he got to learn how it is when teams design their defense around you.
Jabari Smith is the one I would have a close eye on next season. I want more consistency next season.
No one should be disappointed in the developed this team after last season, now the trick is to finalize this thing with the right pieces.
I just hop they aren’t afraid to move guys like Brooks and Smith to the bench if necessary.
I don’t keep up with the whole NBA enough to know who might be available, but I’m just leery of taking a rookie that high for the sole purpose of elite shooting. Elite shooting in college doesn’t necessary translate to elite shooting in the NBA. At least not initially. I also have no idea how Sheppard is on the defensive end. If he’s terrible, can he be hidden? I’ll admit I have more questions than answers and am likely wrong on some of this. I’m just hesitant to keep adding rookies to the mix because it drags out the rebuild process even longer.
Sheppard is a good defender and shot 52% in college.
He is not a stiff.
He is athletic enough to get his shot….and 50+% translates anywhere….kid can shoot.
The time is next season for our team. We are no longer a college all star team. Hopefully they can fill a need. The UCONN center intrigues me, but haven’t seen him play that much.
I sure hope so. It wasn’t so much a knock on Amen but more on the GM and how he constructed this team. To build around 2 players that skipped the collegiate level, the Silas hiring, what he traded for James Harden etc. It set this team back many years and I’ve seen GM’s like Morey strip a team like he did back in 2012 and traded pieces like Lowry, Kevin Martin and totally revamp a team around new pieces like Harden. The rebuild process didn’t take nearly as long and he was consistently making moves that were pluses. Not moves that got us deeper in the hole with a trade for John Wall, Victor Olidapo etc. I’ve had arguments with people in a Rockets Facebook forum who are supporting Stone as a GM. I just don’t see it…he’s been a disappointment in my eyes. 3 top 5 draft picks and 2 max players and they are a .500 team. I even believe Udoka pushed for Dillon Brooks to give this team some grit and not a bunch of stat stuffers with no defense. That’s why I say this GM should be on the hot seat this year , he has the tools now at his disposal to make something happen…we shall see…
This is being built the right way with more sustainability and actually added more draft capital for our future.
The Rockets have been brilliant adding pieces in mid to low first rd picks getting Sengun, Eason and Whitmore. Maybe the best value picks in the last three drafts.
