Conditioning is the main culprit.
Why Games Are Treated Differently
Sustained vs. Short Activity: Practices involve long, continuous periods of intense physical exertion and conditioning. Games feature frequent stoppages, timeouts, and natural rest intervals. [1]
Participant Volume: Practices involve a much larger number of total participants (entire rosters, multiple team units) on the field at once, making monitoring and pacing harder. Games limit active players on the field. [1]
Historical Data: Governing bodies like the University Interscholastic League note that historical data shows the vast majority of exertional heat illnesses and tragedies occur during pre-season and regular-season practices, when conditioning levels are ramping up and workloads are heaviest. [1, 2]
They also have shaky special teams and are crazy aggressive in field flip spots.
But at least they have an identity that works for them. Itās not that different than what you will see from Jimmy today (although yaāll will be watching your game, i get it)
Except we have the best kicker in the country. @RobDob
Itās just as hot and humid at College Station and Austin as it is here, yet they are able to put 100,000 fans in their stadiums.
How is that possible?
A UH fan since 1964 and a 1973 graduate, Iām certain of the root of the problem, but at the risk of starting a firestorm of controversy, Iāll let you guys try to figure it out.
Cautionā¦ā¦truth hurts.

By having fanbases that is so large the only games some of their fans will be able to go to are the noon starts in September. All of our problems involve not having enough fans.
Would it have something to do with when I asked the RA at Moody Towers (from Pakistan) if he was going to the football game and his reply was āHouston has a football team?ā
