Pac-12 Damage Control?

I say let Washington and Oregon go to the BIG. They sound like Texas with their greater than everyone else attitude…

My wife likes her Love it or List it on HGTV.

That where we are now. Part of the family wants to love the PAC and stay together. Part wants to dump the PAC and leave for the BIG XII.

So, they’re going to put lipstick on the pig and get a a lower offer than they’re hoping for. They’re going to see the offer from the Big XII and be asked, “are you going to love it or list it?”

Something to consider, despite my dismissal of their united front.

  1. Pac12 has 6 state flagship schools plus Stanford, Big12 has 2
  2. Winning conference titles in the Pac12 would seem easier
  3. Hearing the media deals could be similar before any shuffling
  4. We know there are no UH friends in the Big12

Would it be so strange to see UH join the Pac12 if offered?

It’s not sinking.

It was when UT and OU announced they were leaving.

It was a promotion.

Going to the LA-less PAC would be a clear demotion.

NO ONE signs up for a demotion willingly.

We were already in the water at the time.

Why would a kid from socal want to go to Pennsylvania or Michigan ect to play in the cold? Maybe the pac just ads san Diego and Fresno. Those schools leaving haven’t won anything. Why go there just because the schools get more money. I don’t know just speculation.

Well you might jump from a sinking life boat on to the sinking ship to buy yourself time.

My guess is we would stick with the Big 12. Assuming the media rights money is about the same, we would be playing regional programs with whom we’ve been rivals as opposed to schools we have little to no history. Plus travel for non-revenue sports would cost a mint. And knowing that Oregon and Washington want out has to give one pause about joining.

so the AZ Republic re-posts Dodd’s claim 28 minutes ago saying the schools are talking to the B12. they time stamp it by mentioning the Colorado press release. there’s no way Gardner reaffirms Dodd’s claim without checking with UA Athletics and the president’s office. she probably asked two questions. only the second matters, “are you denying that you’re meeting with the b12?”

UA probably said something along the lines of…”no comment.” and that is her clearance to repost Dodd’s claim.
