We left a few hundred AMERICANS behind. Let that roll around everyone’s head for a few moments. We left Americans behind.
This isn’t like the Vietnam POWs who we weren’t sure if they were actually alive. These people are calling us on their cell phones.

You know as a soldier this is the right and only thing to do. They owe it to these 13 families, our Afghani friends and all of America. We have never been a nation of cowards.
It appears that we have an incompetent clown show within our leadership in DC.

A clown show does not describe it. A clown show is not tragic, What is currently happening should frighten everybody. The pentagon does not know the 115k Afghans that are now out of the Afghanistan. That have not been vetted. We have to be cognizant of the potential repercussions. All of the tragic deaths that occurred could have been 100% avoided. We and only we created this vacuum. Long ago did this pass the one side or the other. This has nothing to do with it. We have to ask ourselves a fundamental question of our own security and the ones in charge of it. Countless military leaders have stepped down because they did not agree with the given orders. We have to ask the following question. Why did this not happen? A five years old could have designed a better exit strategy than this. We could not have done worse than this if we had tried. Just the concept of the air bases (strategic locations) civilians, arms and troops defies any logic. We 100% created this.
We now hear about relying on diplomacy. Again what planet or parallel universe do our leaders live on?
Relying on diplomacy with terrorists while they currently go door to door and behead people?
We heard that we contacted Americans citizens 19 times since March. What about the Americans citizens on buses turned away just in the last 48 hours? Insanity does not describe it. Just imagine what terrorists can do with hundreds of Americans left behind? I am not even mentioning the same hero that saved our own president and other congressman that we left behind? The press secretary has the audacity to reply with “thank you for helping us during the snow storm”
Regardless of what we all believe on opinions this shall not be accepted by any of us.
Prayers to all that have been left behind. For them this is now a race against the clock .
Ya know gang, it’s interesting just how much two decades of time can change a politician.
Consider this. In a 2002 speech, Biden said the following: “History is going to judge us very harshly, I believe, if we allow the hope of a liberated Afghanistan to evaporate because we are fearful of the phrase ‘nation-building.’”
Contrast that with Biden today: “Our mission in Afghanistan was never supposed to have been nation building. It was never supposed to be creating a unified, centralized democracy.”
Is it just me, or does that not sound like a TOTAL flip-flop?
I mean yes, but how many people have the exact same beliefs and opinions that they have from 20 years ago?
I’d actually regard someone whose beliefs are exactly the same 20 years ago as they are today as a complete negative. A failure to evaluate, reflect, and change if necessary is not a good thing. It’s a sign of foolish pigheadedness. If the new decision is wrong you own that decision just as much as the old decision.

I don’t believe politicians uhlaw97 from either side. I reached this conclusion many years ago. What is IMO very disturbing is the fact that not one General was relieved of his/her duties during their time in Afghanistan or Irak. We spent 20 years there, spent $T’s that will be $6.5 by 2030. Every year we heard “we are making progress but we need more time” We funded this. 20 years later we are being told that “This is a total surprise to all of us, pentagon included that the Afghan leadership folded so fast. no one could have predicted this” How in the world can our leaders talk to us this way. Do they think we are a bunch of idiots? This is valid for either side. I mentioned it before we were sold that they were weapons of mass destruction in Irak. The French intel and French special forces said there were not. The same CIA kept telling us and the same CIA told our leaders that this Afghan surrender was a total surprise. This made no sense from the get go especially since sadam husein was against al quaeda and were fighting against them. al quaeda was trying to topple hussein. How in the world could they have been allies. GOD have mercy for our leaders. There ought to be a full investigation and the highest military leaders like blinken, austin, mckenzie need to step down. They owe it to the entire country, the ones that served and all that look down at us.
It’s excerpts, like all controversial moments I want the whole thing. But as you read it if you’re really quiet you can hear Ghani shoving stacks of USD and Euros into duffel bags when he asks for “money to pay the soldiers more” that’s a paraphrase not the quote. But it does help flesh out how bad this was going to be and one of the reasons why.

Did you catch biden saying the following:
"we will continue to provide close air support, if we know what the plan is and what we are doing."
Am I the only one dumbfounded by his comment? This is UNREAL
Basically he’s saying we’re not just going to bomb anyone just because the Afghan Army gave us the target. We need intent and intel. What’s wrong with that?
Why is this thread still open. Its basically just uhlaw and chris posting. Hey hint, your crazy rants or number of posts aren’t going to change anyone’s mind.

Do you realize what you are writing? We have been there for 20 years, spent $Billions, built infrastructure out of nothing, built entire compounds out of nothing, trained their army for 20 years and we do not know the basics? What is it that you do not realize is so unconnected?
What we are witnessing is scary to the highest point. We have leaders that seem to not have a clue. That in itself is for everyone to see.
And as I posted for Lawdog above, according to the NY Times, we did indeed find WMDs (chemical weapons) in Iraq, and even sustained casualties from them.
In case our citizens are not noticing Biden has falsely blamed his Advisors, both Military and Civilian, for the debacle. Biden says they ALL agreed to what we have just seen.
These statements appear to be lies.
Voters need to closely evaluate our current Executive Branch.we have elections in 14 1/2 months.
So here’s the full quote for those who might need context… And not abject laziness.
BIDEN: If you empower Bismillah [Defense Minister Bismillah Khan Mohammadi] to execute a strategy focused on key parts of the population centers, and I’m not a military guy, so I’m not telling you what that plan should precisely look like, you’re going to get not only more help, but you’re going to get a perception that is going to change in terms of how , um…[unclear]… our allies and folks here in the States and other places think you’re doing.
You clearly have the best military, you have 300,000 well-armed forces versus 70-80,000 and they’re clearly capable of fighting well, we will continue to provide close air support, if we know what the plan is and what we are doing. And all the way through the end of August, and who knows what after that.
Sounds to me “,Hey you have a competent guy right there who can execute this strategy, that I’m not saying do, but I might highly recommend it from our guys then we can execute air support from there successfully”
Problem is Ghani wasn’t interested in that he’s was already planning his getaway with as much cash as he could load up

This is not about voters Robert. This is above all what our intelligence is doing, including the pentagon. This is not about one side vs another. This has been an ongoing @#$up since we got there. It is easy to blame one side when ALL sides are responsible for this end result.
Here’s what I’m talking about. Don’t say that “not one General was relieved of his/her duties during their time in Afghanistan or Iraq.”
That’s simply FALSE.
At least one Marine Corps Commander (full Colonel) was relieved during the invasion of Iraq, I’m sure that there were others military commanders at different levels relieved as well.
