Report: North Carolina leading group looking to leave ACC with next realignment

Already in the realignment string.
That said.
DUH!!!
Of course FSU, Clemson, and UNC are chomping at the bits to get the frack out of the ACC.
Champing at the bit is the correct usage and spelling. Not chomping.
Op posted in the other thread about the same subject and still found the need to create another thread.
No to Syracuse they are has beens lol
Market. Yormark has a hard-on for NY and Syracuse IS New York’s team. As for “has beens” the same could be said for UCLA but they are still sexy.
Id rather the Orangmen than anything nc state or louisville. I dont know what it is about the Cardinals, i get they’re a sollid program but, just… m’eh.
Besides i llke the old Big East vibes that Virginia Tech, Miami, Pitt, and Syracuse bring.
+1 for closed dome stadium Syracuse, welcome to the Big 12! Syracuse is like the Alamodome, gets rowdy real quick when team is hot
I’m in NC so I’m going with NC State…
Nc State, UCONN, Syracuse… come on now hoops fans. It dont get any bigger than rucker park, got my vote yormark
Miami, Virginia Tech, and Pittsburg fits the football ticket for sure. Those are my six.
Got me to wondering so I searched and found:
Champing vs Chomping at the Bit
The phrase “champing at the bit” or “chomping at the bit” both refer to impatience or eagerness. The original and historically correct form is “champing at the bit,” which dates back to the 16th century and is derived from the behavior of horses that grind their teeth against the bit in their mouths when restless or eager.
However, “chomping at the bit” has become increasingly common, especially in American English, and is now widely accepted despite being a more recent variation.
Both forms are considered acceptable in modern usage, though “champing at the bit” is still seen as the more traditional and formal choice.
The word “champ” means to gnash or chew on something, typically in a restless or impatient manner, while “chomp” refers to chewing food noisily.
The confusion likely arises because “chomping” is a more familiar word to many English speakers, making it easier to remember and use.
Ultimately, both phrases are correct, and the choice between them often comes down to personal preference or regional usage.
Some style guides and dictionaries acknowledge the shift toward “chomping at the bit” but still recognize “champing at the bit” as the original form.
Is football ever gonna begin again?
Until they find a way to deal with that ACC GOR, no one is going anywhere for now. I think NC is exploring the situation and deciding what they want in their future, not jumping now. They have to see what ESPN does about their contract. In 4 or 5 years, if nothing has been done, then ACC schools will start to seriously consider moving. You have to have a situation where the GOR doesnt hurt them anymore.
Monte, these realignment are going to happen way before the acc contract is up. Every realignment has happened years before a media contract was up. Hearing noise right now about UNC reported by multiple sources is not good, not good at all.
These schools have mega donors to pay their exit fees.
Yormark’s job is to get these four schools.
Syracuse had a better football season last year than we did. Plus they are a basketball blue blood.
We could do worse.
Good possibility that the Big 12 could get Miami. I know the SEC wont touch them and i feel like the Big 10 is kinda standoffich on them.
20 seems like a nice round number for a conference… IF you do Promotion/Relagation within the league. 10 per side with the lowest from the “Premier League” being relegated to the “Big 12 1st Division” or whatever you wanna call it, and highest 1st Division promoted. It would pay to stay on top of your game as lower division would get G5 money and the extra money would then be given to Premeir League programs.
Risky but novel. A 10 team league where everyone plays everyone.
Syracuse is a basketball blue blood? Debatable.
Similar to “right down the pipe” or “right down the pike”…
Not if the ACC GOR is enforced, they arent. No school is going pay hundreds of millions to leave that early. UNC seems the only school that is a target, and likely their new league will “help them” with whatever penalties they pay. But its nothing but talk now. And talk doesnt mean anything.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Private Equity firms have approached P4 conferences about assisting to pay ACC exit fees for a steak in their respective new media deals
Ex. PE firms injections $1 Billion into the Big 12 with a portion of it solely to pay FSU/Clemson exit fees
I would hate for the B12 to be beholden to a PE firm. It is all about generating profit. Let another conference be the guinea pig. You start off with a sugar high and then the PE firm starts exerting its influence. It could be good or it could get ugly.
