You know what I hope with the extra revenue? Better concessions, better security and better traffic management to and from the stadium. The UT game will show how effective our advanced preparation is.
My cost per ticket went down $25each lol
I don’t expect our concessions to change much but have better trained people behind the counters, all concessions opened and not running out of items by the end of the half.
Concessions are tough.
It’s hard to offer good concessions with the crowds we have at the games. That’s why I go out of my way to buy from the local vendors. They gambled they’d have good sales and end up breaking even or losing money.
I even bought a $20 turkey leg once.
This year will be tough. Season ticket sales will give the false impression that most games will be better attended but I figure the UT game will skew that.
But cold hot dog buns are still around.
I don’t get all the Debbie Downer stuff. We have been in the wilderness for 30+ effing years and now that we get what we want we come up with all sorts of of stuff to complain about. None of this stuff is new to complain about - ticket pricing, concessions, parking, etc. As Jim Rhome says - shake yourself.
We have the lowest operating budget in the new conference. Full stop. The university subsidizes said athletic department for 20-30+ million a year. We have to step up as alums, students, and friends of the program to do more.
As someone said on another thread, hopefully the increased revenues increases resources to address those problem areas. The atmosphere at games is going to be awesome and I can’t think of one other thing I would rather spend my discretionary dollars on then hanging out with my Cougar family for 6-7 games a year rooting on the red and white.
And if pricing is a problem, then split the tickets with another alum or friend (or 2). We need to pack the stadium!
That’s even worse. The same complaints that are never addressed.
Let me know when you find a fan base that doesn’t have the same complaints. If you go to an an OU or LSU game, you may be parking in someone’s yard a mile away from the stadium. We are spoiled when it comes to parking.
Haven’t seen anyone comment about the new visitors sections in the NW corner. Are those now off limits for season tickets?
We’re right next to the visitors section, Section 12X. Can’t wait for game day!!!
I would assume those are off limits for season tickets, but prior to game day if visitor tickets are returned I bet they will be sold individually.
I just hope UH is not trying to jump to the top of the ticket revenue list.
One thing I noticed with some schools is the location of students. UH has them in the endzone giving two sides of premium seating for ticket sales. Other schools, like TCU, and I think Baylor, have students on the sidelines. Losing pricing for premium seating with donation requirements.
Season tickets didn’t go down. You’re going to end up paying for that UT game.
I’ve been to an LSU game. People on this site have no clue how good we have it when it comes to parking. It was a mile walk for me and it took over an hour to get to the freeway when we left.
Report back when you visit one of our peer institutions during a football game because lsu, Michigan, Texas, Alabama are vastly different experiences than tech, Illinois, Rutgers, et al.
Lets not compare ourselves to Rutgers!!!
I find the few people who do work in the ticket office to be very helpful. Why the ticket office phone is not answered on game days or in the evening of games is beyond me.
Season ticket sales are an indicator and most games WILL BE better attended.
On the other hand, BU, TT, TCU, and OSU all get full shares of the TV payout whereas we don’t. They all have bigger stadiums o pull in more revenue and have been banking P5 big bucks while we were scraping by on G5 payouts – we need to catch up. Our fans want to compete for recruits right away, but do it with much less.
I suspect all on here knows that, but just love to complain. I’m waiting for the claims that CDH is responsible for the increase in prices and if we hired another coach they would be half price.
It depends on whether the comment upthread of UT fans buying lots of season tickets is true. If so, those tickets won’t be used except for the UT game.
There’s no way of knowing until game day so how is concessions supposed to plan for that with food and personnel?
Some worry way too much
Apparently not Aramark, or whoever is in charge of concessions nowadays. The don’t worry about their customers at all.
