Forget that. You guys want UH to be a prison? It’s an open campus just like any other university.
So this guy assaults the victim, robs her, runs away, them comes back to the garage ?
The fact that he was on camera in the garage earlier doesn’t mean that he did it. Lots of non students pass through those garages. The DA’s office initially checked him out then released him.
Again, if he is the perp, fry him, but this story isn’t adding up.
Very appreciative of your entire comment. This needed to be said.
Not saying, it’s a made up or whatever, but in some cases, you may have a disgruntled student who was forced to go to university of Houston. They’ll use any type of excuse to justify, leaving to go where they really wanted to go and safety is something you can’t refuse
Horrible assault, but let’s not let the media run the narrative. Happens way too often on way too many campuses and other places. Also, several (Chronicle leading the way) were so quick to believe that UH botched up the arrest where I believe the interview showed otherwise. Kudos to Channel 2 for actually doing research and their job.
No need to worry about the media. We have our own posters who are ready and willing to jump in and assume the worst.
Yep. To them its all “fake news” unless it confirms their bias.
Update. Suspect still seen in the area, a lot.
Man, that is concerning. And sad to say, but it goes with the territory ![]()
I rode Metro day & night whilst working thru school my last 3 yrs. A lotta things can happen…gotta keep your head on a swivel & be aware at all times.
I used to carry a good-sized knife, but also admit that being a guy is a privilege in this kind of situation (ppl tend to mess with you less) even if you’re short like me
Breaking : Rape Suspect has now been recaptured and back in Police custody

Yeah, the guy apparently was riding the trains and lingering around libraries. Somebody recognized him on the train and called the cops immediately.
Hopefully he’s off the streets for the forseeable future.
I know a couple of Harris County’s head honcho adult sexual assault prosecutors.
Hopefully…they’ll get some justice!
Good news. Hopefully the coed gets justice.
I don’t believe it was a breakdown in communication… it’s just the Harris County policy it seems…
So the guy had a million dollar bond that was posted. The other guy
accused in the death has a $3 million bond pending and is still in custody.
So looks like the “more potentially guilty” guy is being retained.
Other factor to consider is jail capacity. Looks like right now the jail is full ?

I suppose if people in the state are upset about the accused making bail, the
state needs to pass strict laws that don’t allow it. Oh, and the counties probably
need to pass some bonds to build more jails.
I think we can agree that sexual assault suspects shouldn’t be released on their own recognizance and capital murder suspects shouldn’t get bond at all… that should be pretty universal amongst different ideological groups…
Yet, that is not the law in any state, is it ? From what I’ve read, they do an assessment of likelihood of flight that goes into the bail decision.
Guess follow-up questions would be what percent of these that bond out
commit another crime while out on bond ? And what percent of these out
on bond fail to check in with their bondsman or fail to show for trial. I don’t
have the answers and don’t feel like trying to find them now.
