It would be just like Aggie to fight tooth and nail to keep Horn out of the SEC and when they clearly did not have the support, act like they were the ones to recommend Horn for membership.
Tell that to the Tech brain trusts who are very public about their plans to be ready when the next round of realignment happens. Winning multiple conference titles across all sports is part of the plan, but thatâs not the whole plan.
Well the sec isnât happening for tech nor any other Texas teams. So their only option is the big10. They would have to be AAU also for big10. Plus the big 10 if they went into Texas , they would want a big market which tech doesnât have and tech will never carry the state . The big 10 will have many other options among Colorado,Utah along with Acc teams. The big 10 would know if you add Houston , Houston gets the money from big10 to compete and brings the market that tech doesnât have nor ever will. They are basically Oklahoma state at best. The big 10 just has too many options other than tech to look at and they like brand and markets. So again tech is simply doing this to win in the big12 which they could . Tech could win the national championship from the big12 which is all they are doing. Sec is out for us and them and if the big10 wants in Texas , they will look at AAU and markets which is all that is left in Texas and tech fails so far on both one of which is market which they canât manufacture. Houston at least has about close to a 8 mil market when good.
Ex. , Clemson won national championships and so far the big10 and sec havenât grabbed them bc sec already has South Carolina and clemson doesnât bring a big market to entice the big10. So tech could win a bunch of national championships and be in clemsonâs predicament. Fla st at least brings a big part of florida if taken.
Like Marcus Oliver and Coach Jeffcoat.
A&M wasnât even in the loop when Texas and OU were invited. The SEC doesnât give a damn what Texas or A&M think about adding schools.
We werenât in the AAC back in 2007.
We were in Conference USA until the end of 2013.
Ehhh
Theyâll care about Texas, but I agree A&M has no leverage
BY thinks the new settlement will level the playing field and create guard rails with teeth on nil deals. Mainly bc the p4 signed off on it. He thinks it will reduce lawsuits.
The fact that conferences had to sign has teeth.
People have been paying under the table for years and will continue to do so whether it be NIL or whatever lol, no clearing house or settlement will level the playing field, TT spending out of control and Iâm sure major tampering violations in softball recruiting, itâs the Wild West we better get our financial donors in shape or we will never compete in football
I think the p4 oversight will do better than the ncaa did. They are also looking into the fairness of the selection committee for the playoffs. I think itâs a good start and it will evolve on enforcement. I believe there will be less under the table and illegitimate nil deals. Again the p4 teams are in union on all of this. They arenât going to let a tech or any other just hand out 10 mil if itâs not a legit deal. Itâs a good start.
We will prob see a lot of ridiculous nil deals try and go thru before the rules start this summer which is what weâre seeing.

Congrats for almost winning the softball thingâŠ
Probably made up of 3 or maybe 5 UT grads/employees . . . . .
Thinking out loud . . . . . will UH have to match SSI payments, carry workmans comp, maybe other payroll expenses ? ? ? ? ?
Thatâs a little on the cynical side.
Probably an Ohio State person in there too for diversity among schools.
The only thing spending $55M in NIL gets you is a bunch of rich college athletes.
What do the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, and Las Vegas Raiders have in common? Each team spent at least $265M on payroll in 2024 and none of the teams made the NFL playoffs. Throwing money at players does not guarantee success.
Sounded cynical but at one time in the '70s the NCAA enforcement committee was three people and two were Texas Alums.
Louisiana to do a gambling tax to help nil
A couple of pointsâŠ
- Deloitte reportedly found that over 90% of NIL payments from public companies would be approved, while 70% of past payments from booster collectives would have been denied.
"3. Range of Compensation Analysis
Finally, Deloitte will use a 12-point analysis to assess whether the compensation aligns with similarly situated individuals in comparable NIL deals. This range of compensation analysis will apply solely to third-party NIL deals with âassociatedâ entities or individuals, using historical deal data involving both college and professional athletes as benchmarks, and excluding roster value and recruiting incentives. Deloitte will assess factors such as athletic performance, social media presence, local and institutional market size, and brand influence to determine the fair-market-value of each individual student-athleteâs deal."
from âNIL Goâ: Deloitte Establishes Basic Framework to Review Third-Party NIL Deals | NIL Revolution
If âlocal and institutional market size and brand influenceâ is used to determine compensations are they going to say yes to all TU deals and no to similarly sized Tech deals? I am afraid this could be the rich getting richer.
