SMU didn’t deserve a playoff spot!

Same goes for Boise. They should’ve never received a bye. The only losing team in this first round who looked like they belonged was Clemson. They should’ve had a bye & Boise should’ve been playing Texas today & ASU should be playing Penn State next week. This committee was the worst one thus far.

Oookk

ACC teams in final CFP: SMU #10, Miami #13, Clemson #16, Syracuse #21

B12 teams in final CFP: ASU #12, BYU #17, ISU #18, Colorado #23

ACC was clearly the better league. But with that said ASU could at least help the league’s rep by pulling an upset against Texas and advancing further than any ACC teams.

I think Kansas was the best team in the country for 3 weeks & then they ran out of gas against Baylor lol

Thats the problem with this committee. They ignored things like that for “brands”, yet overly penalized BYU for the exact same thing! Even Boise got preferential treatment… for a LOSS. They struggled to beat (3-10) Nevada & (3-9) Wyoming, and went UP in the rankings

No it wasn’t.

SMU was WAAAAY overrated.

Couldn’t beat the THIRD best Big 12 team at home. Didn’t beat anyone good.

That should give you some idea of the differences in conference strength.

Boise lost to the right team. Unfortunate for Clemson.

Louisville is good. They also waxed TCU who went 6-3 in the B12 and beat a respectable Duke team. All of those wins came on the road. SMUs ranking was fine.

HARD DISAGREE

BYU already beat SMU
ASU would run all over Miami
I like ISU over Clemson & Syracuse
Colorado could go toe to toe with ANY of those ACC teams.
And Kansas State would also wipe Clemson or Syracuse.

The ACC simply had bias in their favor in the eyes of the committee. The ONLY team of theirs that could’ve made the Big 12 Championship game is Miami, & thats only bc they have the #1 offense in the nation. But the rest of that conference is not touching the top 5 of the Big 12

Damn Tennessee didn’t deserve a playoff spot

They also don’t lose to anyone terrible.

EXACTLY! The fact that a team who couldn’t win the AAC (until UH, UC, & UCF left) made it to their CCG, & nearly won it, in year ONE is an indictment on that entire league. Meanwhile, a (10-2) BYU, w/ a win over SMU… IN DALLAS, doesn’t even make the CCG in the Big 12. But a 3 loss team won the ACC & somehow they’re a stronger league than the Big 12??? Blasphemy :joy::joy:

Wasn’t bias. Plenty of computer rankings have the ACC ahead of the B12. I disagree with you on ISU running over Clemson. I think they were pretty one dimensional. Clemson would’ve handled them. Colorado and ASU probably would do well but KState? Idk they looked pretty awful against us.

I hate having to defend smu but they were still trying to figure out who their QB was going to be. Plus even then, it wasn’t like they got blown out. Quality loss if you think of it.

BYU damn near lost to okie lite.

I think Clemson whoops ISU.

You know that KState didn’t even finish in the T-5 right? But you know who did? TCU lol

Iowa state actually played somebody in regular season…SMU didnt even play the 4 best teams in ACC other than them…Clemson, Miami, Syracuse and Georgia Tech. SMU and Indiana were complete pretenders who deserved the butt kicking they got in the first round. Schedules need to be a bigger factor in coming years.

A loss is a loss & should be treated as such. ESPECIALLY when the rest of their schedule was complete crap. And it was in WEEK TWO! If this same Boise team (who very nearly lost to 3-9 Wyoming) played Oregon again today, they get embarrassed on National TV. You gotta remember, Oregon barely beat FCS Idaho the week b4 they played Boise. Upsets happen every year during the 1st 3 weeks of the season due to teams still working out some kinks. That’s why all major programs like to play cupcakes at the beginning of the year. You can’t honestly believe, for example, that NIU would beat Notre Dame again if they played today. Same goes for Boise. They were gifted a bye for a LOSS bc of piss poor judgment by this committee

A loss is a loss. And it would’ve factored into the conversation if BYU didn’t lose to a 5-7 Kansas team at home.

ISU didn’t have to play a T-4 B12 team in the regular season just like SMU. Once they got matched up with one in the CCG they lost, bad! They also lost to a 5-7 Kansas team.
