Stadium Construction & Updates pt2

The band was playing or something.

so you are saying going to a UH game, in the middle of the day. In September DOESN’T feel like an oven???

We have 100s of threads…not posts…describing how hot our stadium is during the day and how we pray for night games!

its hotter at the Dynamo stadium for reasons already mentioned

I’m saying that it would be much worse if we didn’t have the airflow. We don’t have to speculate on this; the problems with Shell Energy Stadium are well documented, and were considered when SCFS was built two years later. The Dynamo literally do not play daytime home games, because with their stadium’s construction, they’d be running a real risk of killing people.

Serious question. Don’t know the answer.

Does TSU play all of its home football games at Shell at night for that very reason?

I mean, I don’t know the answer, but if they do, then that would make sense.

Nevermind, I just checked the TSU football website.

All of their games last season at Shell had 6:00pm start times EXCEPT their Nov. 16th game.

I guess by that time of year, they figured the weather would be cool enough to be bearable.

Their homecoming game against VU-Lynchburg also kicked off at 2PM, but they play homecoming at Durley Stadium, which is on campus. Given that, it’s hard to imagine the heat at the stadium isn’t the reason.

I CAN"T WAIT for this to break ground.

So exciting for our University!

It should start pretty soon right? I thought I read spring somewhere. I’m excited for it too. Campus will have a completely different feel when it’s complete.

What if we try for night games early in the season, if TV dictates otherwise have some large ceiling fans and misters in the concourse to help facilitate the air flow. If it is too hot in the sun, a lot of people end up watching the game from the concourse. The big score board will give shade to the north endzone after 4:00. We get a bigger tailgate with evening starts.

I think they started in January. Not sure which areas are scheduled when but it’s supposed to be complete by winter 2026.

Long overdue and should look great!

University Drive Main Entrance, Centennial Plaza, and Wilhelmina’s Grove are the 3 big pieces that will be complete by 2027…

Looks like they have some large steel beams laid out at the bottom. NW bridge going up?

Hopefully they can add more landscaping around the stadium. It would look much nicer than the scarce tree-lined sidewalks that currently exist.

Wish they could’ve kept the waterfall sculpture in the fountain

Our entire campus is “going up” What I would like to see is a bit more colors than the amount of grey concrete all the way around. We do not have stucco but we can surely add colors.
