Colors do fade but in your opinion could the inside of TDECU be painted red or partially be painted red? I was thinking under the actual benches or even the steps. Devil’s advocate red could make the inside of the stadium “warmer” but IMO this would look awesome.
Regarding the actual campus i would keep the historical building the way they are. The Moody Towers and other structures are way too “concrete” looking. They should at least be repainted. The area again IMO would greatly benefit if colors were used to “spice up” our campus. The welcoming sign does not have any red for example. I liked the new shops, small restaurants by the corner. We need much more of these if possible.
The older buildings/Art Deco buildings are unique (my favorites) On the newer ones we are not using stucco. Was that an overall plan to not use stucco because of design or cost?
That conversation didn’t last long and went something like this:
“Red seats/bleachers would look awesome! Let’s do it. Go Coogs! Yeah!!”
“Hmmm… look at this picture of Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium at Louisville, those seats look pink after only a few seasons… We get a lot more sun in Houston…”
“You know what! It won’t matter anyways bc the fans will be wearing red and fill the stadium every week! Go Coogs!!”
We actually believed this for the most part. At least I did lol… then again, I also believed John O’Korn could win the Heisman and Coach Levine’s statue would be next to Yeoman’s someday lol
UH FP&C has a whole library of standards and guides on how UH buildings should look. Everything from paint color in classrooms to roof pitch to color tones and materials on the outside… same with doors, signage, plants, benches, etc. It’s a bureaucrat‘s dream - easy to comply with while not complying.
Honestly, if you can master the “special approval business case” (just a list of 5-7 bullets on a word doc, UH logo pasted at the top) anything is possible…
Edit - photo of UL seats toward the end. They looked terrible…
Always appreciate your insights. Thanks.
The red seats in old Robertson Stadium faded to pink and some seats in my section was always cracked.
I am with you it is stupid to have colored seats if they are not protected.
Covering red seats? Did Robertson stadium or Louisville ever used tarps to protect them against UV rays?
We do not play 68 games at TDECU. We play about six to seven games at TDECU. It is a choice. It is doable if we would want to do it. We do not want to. No worries.
Why spend money on beautifying an empty stadium? To what end?
The trend nowadays is to make seats more comfortable and make the fan experience more enjoyable.
The Cullen Pool is not symmetrical!
I think you’re joking but I kind of like the original rendering they put out with a smaller rectangle fountain to add more real estate but we all complained about it including me so they changed it back.
Well, just responding here so yall can see my avatar on the refreshed feed. Hahahaha choke on it!!! Tomalo todooooooooo!!!

I actually wanted it like that too. But since they are going with this version, I think even just the first pond is enough and take out the second one. But oh well.
Will be a major upgrade regardless
Yes and what one could say it looks like a block “H” when you fly over on SW Air !
Go Coogs !
Seems like the new layout of the fountain pools are similar to the existing but not exactly the same.
Looks like they’re moving the underground MEP room out from the middle of the fountain, where it is today.
And the fact that they’re changing the layout infers that they’re completely rebuilding the fountain. I know they did some major repair work on it in the early/mid 90s when I was in school, didn’t know if they’ve done anything since.
The said fountain has been a maintenance nightmare from day one.Leaks.,electrical problems, pumps, etc. I hope we do a more dependable design this time .
Go Coogs !
They are putting up the northwest bridge today
Anyone know what they put on the decking under scoreboard?
Is the space under the scoreboard where they will put restrooms and concessions?
They absolutely need that to make the 300 section a more popular place for ticket buyers.
We took away seating and decreased capacity before we expanded TDECU.
Hopefully this will cool down the posters who all want a bigger stadium or expansion.
Asphalt glue.
Do kids today still jump in the pool after graduation?
