One of the best ways to increase athletic revenue is to have more non-UH events at TDECU and Fertitta Center. Once UH completes the renovations to TDECU, the University needs to try and attract as many events to TDECU and Fertitta Center as possible.
Space City Stadium*
i donāt disagree with that, just saying that Houston as a large city where soccer is very popular; tdecu is missing some opportunities for some soccer events and those events will increase over time.
Robertson was never a soccer stadium.
Pretty sure I read here on coogfans that Pez wanted TDECU to accomodate soccer but was overruled. I agree with you that it was a lack of foresight by whomever made that decision. It will be interesting to see if TDECU will host a practice facility for a 2026 FIFA World Cup team. I suppose it could still do that. Didnāt the Argentina national team practice there prior to their Copa America game?
Also I disagree with you that TDECU would be the best stadium in MLS. Even Shell stadium where the Dynamo play is better than TDECU. Sorry.
Didnāt the Dynamo play there until their new stadium was built?
From google searchā¦
The Houston Dynamo played at Robertson Stadium from 2006 to 2011. Robertson Stadium was the first home of the Dynamo, a Major League Soccer (MLS) club
I was with the Galaxy from 1996 to 2002. We played at the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl is not a soccer stadium even though it hosted the 1994 World Cup Final.
I like the way TDECU is configured. Again this is strictly my opinion. No worries.
Did you attend MacArthur HS?
West rd and 45 have a Chick-fil-A and Raising Canes.
My wife was zoned to Aldine hs but was in the band and nhs student so they looked the other way at Macarthur. I got married in 2016 at St. Leos and had our reception at My Dream Ballrom.

I remember when this thread was about renovations at TDECUā¦
Me too. LOL
As recently as 2024 this thread was about our Stadium renovations.
Sighā¦the good old days.
Not a mistake. Thereās already a professional soccer stadium (now named Shell Energy Stadium) just 3 miles from UH.
Right. Iām talking about the actual soccer stadium we played in while our current one was being built. Maybe you missed out on that season?
UCF aināt gonna like that.
They claim Space U but not Space City; thatās H-town.
MLS, CONCACAF, Copa America and World Cup soccer are already taken care in Houston of between soccer specific Shell Stadium and NRG on grass fields. If practice fields and club house/locker room amenities are needed for teams, they are taken care of at Houston Sports Park off of 288. Argentina with Messi practiced there so if itās good enough for himā¦
Letās stick with attracting other events to TDECU like UFL, high school football, concerts, etc.
And letās get this thread back on track. Weāre wanting updates on the stadium reno itself.
