With the IPF, the vaunted downtown view is basically a myth now unless you are high up on the home side. Consideration for a DT view should play no part. If we think we have demand for an endzone club then that is a must. Close the endzone in, add a club, all integrated nicely on the backside of the football ops building, make it look nice, and call it a day.
Downtown view looks great from third deck. View doesnât change if downtown is dead or not⊠canât make out hipsters from that far away.
Anyway Iâd take the facility over the view, but the view ainât nothing
The downtown skyline is a nice novelty for fans, but if you asked me would I rather have a downtown skyline view that does not put extra revenue in UHâs pocket vs premium seating, premium seating will win every day of the week and Saturdays and Sundays.
100% it was a cool feature initially, but hasnât and shouldnât stop upgrades from happening.
View was great for about 30% of the stadium. Now itâs about 10% so not really a big deal. If you love it that much move to the 300s SE side
Was cool on TV, but the indoor athletic facility took its spot. Which looks pretty cool too
Geez, who cares about the downtown view.
Yâall act like itâs world class like NYC, Paris, Dubai, London, or Tokyo.
Snoopcoog, you are exactly right. I was a student when we joined the SWC and played in the dome. Most student tickets were in the field boxes (baseball box seats) but because of the low slope those were not great seats for football. One time, I could not get the field box seats and received instead seats in the loge level right behind the goal posts. You had to stand up and look down to see the back line of the end zone. You could almost reach out and touch the goalposts. Those seat were fantastic. It was great for watching alignments, blocking schemes etc. For the rest of my time at UH, I specifically requested those seats whenever I could get them. Now, coaches want to see plays from the âall 22â from high end zone camera. I understand why. Great perspective on the game.
I would take Paris and London off your list and throw in Chicago.
Anyway, it wasnât about the skyline itself. Itâs that it was emblematic of the University of Houston being Houstonâs university and itâs proximity to downtown.
It was a nice idea but now we can move onâŠ
Donât need two stadium threads for one conversation, so posting here.
In the link in the other thread, it talks about some great party deck, but is not clear what it is. Is it just the standing on the bridges at the railing with a drink like it talks about or is there actually more to it.
Unless they actually sell the drinks up there, it will not do much. Especially since I donât think standing right in front of the scoreboard speakers for a couple hours is fun myself.
Any more detailsâŠ
you get to see plays develop and who ran the wrong route
that looks hodge podge
Iâd like to see Pez make changes to the stadium lights so when the Coogs score, the place is flooded with all red light and then back to white light afterwards. Ive seen other places do it and it looks cool. Its not like we have lights like back in the Rob and if they went out it took 15-30 mins to bring them back on.
London and Paris have absolutely abysmal skylines for their size.
Downtown Houston and the other skylines within the area (uptown, tmc, greenway, etc) are an amazing site to behold. Especially from the 610 bridge.
Is that Mumphish?? What in the heeeeeeellll are they putting those punk arses in our nice render?!?
I really like the idea about the red lights after a touch down. Are they bright enough to not be a safety issue for people already walking on stairs?
I have never gone to football game for a view of downtown or palm trees. I want a view of more fans in the stands and the additional noise they produce.
Here is an example: Georgia Sanford Stadium
I think that this would be really awesome. You should email Pezman.
