We’re one of the top 5 programs in the country and nobody can argue against that… In my opinion CKS will give it until he’s 75 to try to win one because he gets to coach and be with his family…
even if we are lucky enough to pull a 2017 UNC next year?
If we win it all next year, I will gladly get over this because we finally got a ring.
But it’s a tall task to get back here, and we are losing Cryer (our best scorer) and possibly Uzan.
That’s going to be hard to replace… Pesik probably has a better idea than me, but even with this elite recruiting class, it’s going to be hard to win it all with 3 new freshmen and (2) of your (3) 40% 3 point shooters gone.
Does anybody know if we get to do another overseas trip before next season? It would help all the newcomers build chemistry faster.
There will 1000% be a big transfer, if milos and pop issacs come back, you have a very strong backcourt
no, once every 4 years… we did it 2 seasons ago
The roster is actually pretty easy to figure out if you pay attention. There are no guarantees but I assure you three freshmen at least have a path to PT.
It seemed like refs called a bunch of GT calls in other games just so that they could have the benefit of a replay review to get it right.
This one looked questionable in real time and would have been called in those other games.
That was a huge play in the game. Foul calls are one thing…these aren’t that hard to review and correct.
It needs luck to win it too . We just didn’t have enough of it.
We can slice it and argue about it. Facts stand out.
FG%:
Florida: 21-53= 39.6%
UH: 24-69= 34.8%
Yes we had 16 more shots than Florida.
FT%
Florida: 17-21 = 81%
UH FT: 9-14 = 64.3%
Now the stat that NOBODY could have seen coming:
Assists
Florida= 14
UH…wait for it: Five
CKS post game presser was black and white and crystal clear. We lost the game. It always take two to tango. Not taking anything away from Florida but clearly we missed so many shots and had a bad FT night that it is not surprise we lost the game. But to lose the game by two points is why CKS mentioned what he said. This game should have never been close. CKS had the perfect game plan but we did not execute. No excuses. Eight out of 10 times we win this game.
This is why it is so frustrating. Gotta deal with it.
After the Duke game, I never thought I’d see the Coogs blow a 12 point second half lead. Especially, in a game of that magnitude. Florida deserves a ton of credit for making the necessary adjustments to take it at the end.
Did you see the shooting stats line? CKS was right on during his presser. This is why it is so frustrating.
Until we win a natty, I think we’ll be viewed as the new Gonzaga.
Absolutely, they just didn’t make enough shots. Maybe Florida had something to do with that? Four key players shot poorly. If just one shoots well, they obviously win. Tough pill to swallow.
This is nothing compared to the 1983 loss quit whining and move on we lost AGAIN
Come on now. How many old timers still talk about 1983 til this day and you want to tell people to get over this past Monday?
Its only been three days, jeez.
Thoughts of “we Coogs aren’t allowed to have nice things” entered my mind after the game.
It was an exciting season though. The team was a pleasure to watch. Quality individuals representing our university.
I am also clinging to schadenfreude, knowing that the Coogs prevented so many others from having nice things this season…
I had the same feeling as you did but while re-watching the game. The opponent is always a factor but when you dive down into it we just shoot badly. We had so many clear shots that we simply did not execute. CKS was blunt on his presser. This was unlike our team. We made these shots all season long or at least one to two players stepped up. We did not. Mentally coming back from a deficit against a team like Duke takes a “mental” toll. I will add again that the refs calling our bigs so unlike the first half disrupted our team more than everyone would admit. Florida playing Detroit DIRTY Pistons without us doing the same was also highly disruptive. One more time, eight out of 10 games we win this game by a comfortable margin. But I am entering video game territory here…We gotta execute and we did not. PERIOD.
IDK if I’d go 8 of 10 but I’d probably go 6 or 7 out of 10 we we win. We shot poorly and our bigs all got in foul trouble, both of which have plagued us in previous years but not as badly this year. Also, the refs completely switched how they called the game halfway through which for our aggressive style threw us into chaos and tacked on many one-sided fouls in a row which is basically unheard of… I have to assume there was likely some negative aberration to account for there even though some of that was Florida surely. Regardless we were right there having several chances in the final couple minutes that we choked away which again the chance we do that on 4 straight possessions again is not zero but closer to zero than a certainty. I think Pesik’s assessment that we win this game ‘on average’ by about 5 is right if you simulate the game 10 times. Kinda wish the Natty was a 3 game series lol.
