This loss is on the offense

We clearly did not execute. You can have the best game plan possible but again live action is the great equalizer. We knew coming in that their DL was elite. I saw some terrific play calling against Colorado. I expected quick passes and quick runs. We did neither. Every opponent bring their own challenges. Clearly we have to find our identity to get to the next level.
The biggest worry for me was our fundamentals. HCWF mentioned it after the game. Our tackling was atrocious. Our entire OL was out of synch. You can’t expose your QB and RB’s like we did.
Today is a new day and it is back to basics. OSU is the perfect opponent for us.

Yep. Which is why I just sit here and shake my head at some of the “analysis” I have been reading.

Tech was the better team. Period. Turn the page and move on.

Tech was clearly more talented at DL and OL, which made all the difference. Having a vet QB is icing on the cake for that team.

Now my hot take is Chriss needs to be a RB. The way he bursted through some of those gaps last night tells me he can be a weapon in the running game. It also provides some wrinkles in passing game with him next to Weigman or Carlisle.

Agree.

Despite the UH apologists attempting to diagnose the loss, it was obvious to me that Tech was the bigger, faster and stronger team. IMO, Tech is a national championship playoff caliber team.

Next: Okie State. A winnable game. I hope.

.easy call.

Sorry you didn’t see it.

I thought the pass pro held up well considering the line they were facing.

The blocking schemes are different when you’re dropping back to pass vs a running play. The same gaps won’t be there.

Your argument is popular, but not necessarily accurate. The broadcast showed multiple angles and, at most, our player was “nudged” by a Tech player. No use of hands. No clear push. Just an unfortunate piece of timing with the bobble.

This is what’s frustrating about willie ball. Chriss came in and ran the ball his first play, then followed it up with the touchdown pass because tech thought he was going to keep running. After that series, Willie made him into a pocket passer.

We really need to incorporate more play action and bootlegs (Think Kubiak style). If the line can’t give the QB time, we need to do something to slow it down.

Noted. However, I stand by my take. He is a dynamic athlete who can be utilized in the run game and definitely could be a very good running back. He is more athletic than Connors and Sneed.

That’s what’s frustrating about it, Willie ball is so single minded that it doesn’t adjust to the personnel that we have. Chriss would be a great dual threat. I don’t think Willie ball coaches that so there we are.

Oh yeah. His athleticism is off the charts. If only he could throw
.

Speaking of throwing, before Weigman got hurt, I mentioned to my wife that his accuracy was way off compared to the first 4 games.

Just when I thought I would never see it again the backwards pass reappears. grrrrrrrr. Then to top it off, they all stand around after it’s dropped. That is on the coaches too.

What did you expect out of grandpa Fritz?
A high scoring innovative offense?

I missed the game but I see 35 points and 500+ yards of offense. Perhaps they were on the field too long? Regardless, that’s not good.

We already do a lot of zone stuff. We need more quick hitter concepts. We did that a little this game but a lot of drops. Need to do what tech did and throw the ball into space.

Our WRs aren’t too great after the catch. Their WRs were making our guys miss all game.

Amare Thomas might be our best WR playmaker.
