Probably because tech WRs have been in rhythm for weeks now. We need to get our guys the ball more consistently to get them going. Hard to do that when youâre launching the ball 40 yards to one side of the field on 2nd and 10.
As i went back and watched. There were some good things we did. Kobe Young needs more quick hitter targets and so does Boogie.
Yeah offensive scheming is a struggle for this team. I think the limited talent on OL makes things hard.
For 54 minutes of the Oregon St game and 60 minutes of the Tech game we scored 21 points.
The lack of OL talent is obvious, and cannot be corrected this season. We have what we have.
Since our glory year of 2015 this is our 10th season of not being where we would like to be.
Recruiting is the only fix for this problem. We all saw the Tech players. We have few who could start for them.
Willie must be a Master Recruiter, as Yeoman was in his heyday.
Last night we saw the effect of 28 more years of being in a P4-5 conference tv money, increased alumni monetary support and huge NIL transfer money.
After i took a deep breath, i have to say the OL did pretty good given their opposition. Naghavi needs to earn his paycheck. The two OTs need help and you donât spend anytime doubling or chipping the edges.
The only help I saw was for Hunter(who minus the illegal hands to the face) held his own against an elite DT. Hopefully Naghavi and Nagle are addressing that aggressively. Probably not though.
Tech has a damn good offense and look how many FGs they were held to. Eventually a defense gets tired and deflated. I personally had no false hopes of winning this game. I wanted to be competitive and we werenât. I can see us going 8-4 this season which is a step in the right direction but everyone that was for this coaches hire knew it wonât be until year 3 or 4 that weâre actually gonna be competing for the conference.
Your analysis is flawed. Both commentators and the refâs analyst thought the call was going to be overturned. They did not understand why it was not. This is not me writing it but this was in the actual broadcast.
Thatâs fair. They did as good as you could hope considering what they were up against. Weigman and Chriss had ample opportunities to make things happen.
It is just hard to get creative with that unit being limited talent wise.
I agree this could take time but where are you guys getting the math for the time table? Fritz said he wants to be a high school team but retention in the NIL era isnât as easy as it seems. If we can retain most of the roster for the next two years sure, but college football is becoming a yearly roster construction via the transfer portal. If we donât start hitting in the portal it wonât matter how good the classes he brings in are.
Even when we lose⊠we booze!!!
Go Coogs!
Tech is a great team this year. They spend major $$$ and are likely a top 5 team that could even challenge for a natty. We lost to them without our QB1 for half the game, bad calls and turnovers and still matched the deficit of a ranked team (Utah). Tech will beat most Big 12 teams this year by double digits.
So it wasnât just my drunken mind that thought the refs were extra terrible last nightâŠ
Yes teetech has assembled a performing squad but we all need to consider that we did not execute. We failed at some basic plays. That has to be pointed out. We could not have picked a worst game to play our worst game of the season. Last weekâs game against Oregon State was unfortunately a âwarningâ for what was to come last night. That is a major worry for me. Why are we failing at some basic routes, plays that we executed earlier in the season? Was it because it was teetech? Then if it was we should have played much more consistently against Oregon State. There has to be some evaluation to be done now. I am sure our Coaching staff is fully aware of it. You look at five games that we have played. We still have not played four consecutive quarters/full game at where HCWF wants us to be at.
There is a reason ESPN FPI only has us favored in 2 games for the remainder of the season. And of the games where we are under dogs only ONE game is not by a significant margin. And that may change depending on the severity of the Weigman injury and if we have to play Zeon.
We have talent problems on Offense. Lots of them. OL and WR players are especially not great. Our WR guys just do not get open.
This is our 10th team since the Herman 2015 squad that went 13-1.
Have not done much on the National Stage in 10 years. We do not recruit at a Top 25 level. That is our problem.
First off it wasnât a backwards pass. Connor was behind the 18 yard line when he threw the pass and it landed in front of the 18 yard line.
I just rewatched the first half. CWâs accuracy was affected by getting hit on virtually every pass play. When he wasnât hit iit was because he broke out of the pocket and had to throw on the run.
The last incompletion to Kozial in real time looked like he threw the ball behind him. But if you watch the QB he was just about the get hit. Virtually every pass play was one of those two scenarios.
I donât even think itâs necessarily a talent problem. The 2025 and 2026 classes have been some of our best in 10 years. Itâs just for whatever reason it doesnât come together on offense.
We are getting better. And a game like this really shows a team how much work they have to do to get to the next level. There is no way to practice it, you have to play it.
