The guy is a gangster. If you ever watched how he dealt with criticism. If someone embarrassed him he retaliated. Even sending his wife out to whack Blopez. Mocking a competitor’s QB on the sidelines. Intimidating reporters. There are a lot of his kind in college football. They take over, are successful, and have a blow up. Kiffin would be in that sub-strata.
You don’t see that as much in the NFL. Some get through, like Kiffin. But most of those self-destructive tendencies are vetted heavily by the NFL. But there are a lot of college programs that will trade that risk for a quick turn-around. And I don’t blame them.
Note: I think FAU is the next g5 football version of UH. They’re gonna hire one gunslinger after another to keep their program on the national radar. They’ll go through a lot of coaches and they’ll be enormously successful.
CTH couldn’t sleep walk through the Big 12 schedule like at UH.
It took him 2 seasons to beat OU and there was an exodus of players when he got there in 2017.
He didn’t have a senior stacked class like he did in 2015 at UH so he had to give the reigns to Ehlinger as a freshman.
I think it was more of the expectation of him taking them to the playoffs and beating OU consistently, which didn’t happen.
The booster club have no patience over there and combined with head scratching losses to Iowa State, K-State, and other losses to unranked teams.
No one will be successful at UT to the extent of their boosters’ expectations. The boosters at UT are where the attitude and smuggery come from. They’re the man behind the curtain. And they ruin everything. They ran off the last best coach they could have. And now he’s succeeding at a school that historically plays like crap. Can you imagine coaching at UT. You can’t walk across the street without a Cadillac pulling up and someone telling you what to do.
He did the same here. The UCONN loss in season 1 then deer in the headlights look from Vermin after losses to SMU, Navy and Memphis in year 2. The difference was he was still welcome here until he crept out of town.
Herman was like that hot crazy girlfriend you had where it was hot and steamy and up and down during the relationship. You don’t regret it but you probably aren’t wanting to relive the “down” parts nor be in a long term relationship with someone like that again.
CDH is like the average girl you’ve been with a while that b****es too much for your liking (about things like $ or how much you help around the house) but you’ve been patient with her and and she is slowly working on things. Your parents just died and left you $500K so you are pretty confident that will help the relationship in the near term anyway.
CDH is like the worn hard and put away wet 3 time divorcee that has a corvette with minor fender damage and missing a side mirror. She obviously was worth the corvette at one point in her life and she probably can shock you in the bedroom occasionally, but since she drinks straight vodka now she usually passes out before the magic.
Only 1 coach in the history of FAU football has been rehabilitated. Not a very good rehab program at all. Vermin is the least likely to be rehabilitated. He will never coach at any school other than perhaps another G5 or a lowly P5
The problem with burning bridges is that other coaches/AD’s remember and talk. I have left many jobs for better opportunities and money, but I didn’t leave the school’s car at the airport!!
LOL, as if every post on here knows exactly what is going to happen. Opinions are just that, opinions. If you wish to call people out for their opinions then go to the “expansion” thread where every post is an opinion and you are free to say over and over “you dont know that”. You are borderline absurd with that comment.
