I think it comes down to how much weight and strength he gains during offseason conditioning. I will say moving into the big 12 changes the amount of the pt freshman will get going forward
This years team has real problems not having enough guys who can create their own shot. Next years team will be even worse (and yes it can be addressed in the portal but comment is based upon who’s coming back next year).
High school rankings are more useless than the AP rankings. Arceneaux was ranked 31 on 247 and how impactful was he as a freshman? But Noah Clowney from Bama was in the 80s and he ended up being a one and done first round draft pick.
McCarty is a great shooter so that may get him on the floor. But he’s struggling with defensive rotations a good bit at IMG. He’s big and strong but the strength in the big 12 is different than being strong in high school. He has to improve his handle if he wants to be more than a spot up shooter. So maybe his shot gets him on the floor next year. But I think he will need a little bit to develop into a very impactful player for us.
I could be wrong but I don’t think Dunn will be back. So far, and I could be wrong, I don’t think he has taken well to coach Sampson’s style or culture. Hope I am wrong because he is a very crucial to this team this year…
No the bar to play is if they are ready to ply. 5 star or 3 star. But that’s just my opinion from watching him at IMG. I’m not a scout just a basketball fan. Sometimes it’s hard to predict who will continue to play well at the next level.
No just speculation because of Gonzaga’s poor season. They’ll have the same roster next year and be losing some key guys and I heard Gonzaga is struggling with NIL and pulling guys in. If they are going to be bad again next year I just noted it’s a possibility he kid hit the portal we might be a destination because he is friends with Miller and we were in his top 4. One of the other schools in his top 4 was UCLA and they might have a different coach by June
Also it’s slight wishful thinking because I like his game.
Haha, really?! A player that’s currently a +11.9 PB± coming back for his 4th year, who understands and sets the tone for Coach Sampson’s culture, for a program that (to be honest) is still challenged at recruiting top flight front court talent?
Yeah I absolutely believe that he’s a big enough difference maker on a great team between whether you’re an Elite 8 team or NC.
I would love it if Roberts could spend some time with Alperen Sengun in the offseason and develop some footwork magic. Roberts is definitely athletic enough and handles the ball well enough too. At his size, he needs to add some craftiness to his game.
