All I heard from people on this board was how great recruiting was this year….
I’m not going to criticize a kid….but how is the Friday starter of this program a transfer from a lesser school that had a 10+ ERA last year….and we don’t even know who the Sunday starter is?
And let me clarify……when I said “people on this board” I was not speaking about all you die hards that have posted here for years….I was referring to the casuals that don’t understand how college baseball works and thought last year was a great season….and this year we had an awesome schedule etc.
We’re among the national leaders in lowest amount of runs allowed per error?

If can take at least 2 of 3 this weekend in Corpus have a brutal 5 game stretch vs TSU, UTRGV and PVAMU on deck…then we’ll get the “Skip has got it going in right direction” pppffftttt
Suck it Pollard. Ive been on the board for years. I was simply relaying what a person in coaching business was saying. Looks like his assessment is wrong so far.
Pitching staff has walked 28 and hit 4 batters. That’s 32 free passes in 33.1 innings pitched.
For comparison, we have been walked 16 times and no hit batters in 33 innings.
Potential reasons for a 1-3 start:
Average just over three runs of offense per game
Giving up an average of 7.5 runs per game
The 1 free pass by pitching staff every single inning
5 extra base hits (4 doubles and 1 HR) in 4 games
Pitchers have given up 7 doubles, 3 triples and 2 HR in 4 games
5 errors in field that have led to 4 unearned runs in 4 games
Thats like saying the Alamo defenders would beat Santa Ana’s army. Not going to happen anytime real soon. And reality sets in with our entry into the God Amighty b12
Gulp!!! I walked a grand total of 17 batters the 2 years I was at UH. Those errors aren’t good but those may be early season jitters, however, those pitching stats are season killers. That shows a lot of arms without command of the strike zone. My guess is the staff has wagered all the chips to win the conference and the non-conference schedule is being used to separate the chaff and cull to find the best team with a shot at conference championship.
Much respect to the first part of your post…. But the second part is way off the mark…. I understand what you are saying ( I played four years of college ball as well)…. And what you are saying is exactly what most coaches do to see off someone surprises and shows they can be dependable as a starting pitcher…. Or you shape your bullpen for conference based on what everyone does in non-conference…… but right now against weak competition you are seeing exactly what you have….it ain’t much.
