I was disappointed NOT A MENTION no matter how small of the recent legendary Cougar diehard and poster here who passed away, Patrick Moran. I’ve come to expect less from this university but would’ve been a nice touch. The family did send in his biography. Oh well. Some things never change.
It’s a fancy piece of mail sent out to alumni with the goal of getting more people to donate money to the school. Likely put together by a staff of a few people who have other responsibilities for the school… hence the article was written by the VP of Strategic Communications.
Relax. Most people who get the thing just look at the pictures and they sure as heck don’t notice that a score is wrong.
Edit: Here’s the piece if anyone wants to enjoy a great story on our team… while also searching for inaccuracies and proof of AI use.
Errors happen in publishing all the time. It’s why there are “Corrections” and “Retractions” that get issued when mistakes dont get caught. Folks shouldn’t be acting like this is some huge blemish on the university.
That makes it even worse. A junior staffer would write the article and have it proofread for accuracy, maybe by the VP of Strategic Communications. If written by the VP of Strategic Communications, whose job is to put out releases and articles, I expect better…
No, someone who is paid to do their job, which includes accurate information, should have accurate facts. What if the article named a different school or misnamed players participating? Where do you draw the line? I don’t feel that journalism should be graded on a curve.
I never said they deserved termination. But, someone who does write an article, at this level, should be held to a higher standard.
