If you remember Fran actually tweeted we would be competing for a Big12 title with the signing of Uzan.

UH basketball: Kelvin Sampson’s NBA draft message to Milos Uzan

Paywall.

One of the quotes, for those that don’t have access.

Yeah saw the article, pretty much coach KS is recommending Milos to take any guaranteed money in the league regardless of 1st/2nd round. He’s encouraging Uzan to go pro if possible.

To me, it seems clear since Milos didn’t come to the championship celebration. With a NIL budget you need players to leave so that opens up your “cap” to sign more new players. Current players like Sharp, JoJo are going to get pay raises plus the 5 stars freshmen are going to get paid.

Anti-Houston national media will LIE and overinflated his stock to get him to leave.
But he won’t get drafted in the first round.

If I remember correctly Kelvin coached in the NBA for 5 years and has many connections in the league, I don’t think anybody will be listening to the national media.

Also Kelvin gets guys to accept less NIL with the promises of NBA development which honestly requires putting guys in the league and vocally encouraging guys to leave is him being a stand up guy. Even if we want him back, if Kelvin can take Uzan from OU to the NBA in 1 year it will help in ensuring a continuous flow of highly graded transfers and 5 star freshman within the constraints of our current NIL.

what makes you think we have less nil? it sounds like we are right up there with everyone else

We have the number 1 class it the second tier of NIL. I don’t hear anything about us winning bidding wars. I feel based upon nothing but reported rumors we are getting guys to commit to culture and development with a solid NIL offer. Could our guys make more money elsewhere probably, but they are committed to UH and Kelvin.

just because we don’t enter bidding wars doesn’t mean we aren’t first tier. from what Jo has leaked, we are definitely first tier. but maybe you think he’s wrong. I guess no one really knows

So Jo is the source ?

You may be overthinking this a bit.

Yeah. He has said it multiple times if you have been paying attention.

He said our incoming freshman class is the most expensive class this year.
He responded to a tweet about us being in the second tier by saying that our NIL was closer to the number listed for the first tier.
He said our basketball NIL is top 10.

Yes, I’ve seen his posts multiple times. I don’t use his posts as the End of all Ends on accuracy. Maybe he can start listing the names of the sources he’s getting info from ?

I am referring to this article which we have been passing around in one form or another, where we are listed in the “a rung below” group. Also during recruiting all the discussing about Koa Peat was he was going to the highest bidder so we are out. I am not saying we don’t have a healthy NIL program, but that is not why guys are coming here.

I don’t think anybody really knows because everything is private. The article even refers to it as schools believed to be operating in the top tier.

In actual money we are first tier, but CKS isn’t going after people who are making money priority #1. That innately means they don’t fit our culture. Thus, we don’t get into bidding wars.

-NIL is absolutely part of what is bringing top talent here.
-Just because we have a top NIL program does not mean we will win every battle. The Peat decision absolutely had more going on than just NIL. Even if it was purely NIL, which it wasn’t, we already had tons of NIL committed to others.
-in plain terms, we won NIL battles for Cenac, Harwell, Cenac, Flemings, Tugler, McCarty, Sharp, etc. That a ton of wins, how many wins do we need to balance the “loss” of Peat?

I agree that nobody really knows, including Joprior. Hope that satisfies you Jesse. Asking someone to prove their bona fides by naming names is really bonkers. just incorporate all of the information floating around and form your opinion. I’m just hedging against the notion that we are some special playground where the world’s rules don’t apply because of some sort of magic CKS has. Does CKS have clout that pulls in talent, absolutely, but its not magic that separates us from every other team in the world. Many factors affect these decisions and our NIL position is STRONG

I wasn’t trying to be satisfied from you.
I was just giving my opinion on that if no media was used or actual in-house personnel ( part of team) , I don’t take info from here as a given.
Hope that satisfies you Ehog.

Just so you know where I’m coming from
not that it matters. Few yrs ago i knew 7-10 days( source worked for a UH Dept ) b4 Cam Ward made his announcement he was going to WSU ( UH was on his list). I didn’t say anything on here till 1-2 days b4 official announcement was made n i get questioned, where did i get info from etc.

so many others are bonkers on here also.
Then also was let know ( same source) that the $$ floating out there ( 500k) was no where close to factual for what Chriss new QB was getting to come to UH. I posted that 500k was incorrect and not close to accurate.
Again i was asked where did the info come from, who was my source?
So what’s the difference from the info i received vs someone else on here receiving inside intel.
That’s why i decided back then will never try put any info on here going frwd as i did in past.
Too many bonkers to work around
