(5) players who earned invites to the NBA Draft Combine after performing well in the G League Elite Camp
I checked out a few updated Mocks this morning.
Milos was projected 37,43 and 58.
37- probably guaranteed money gone
43- if guaranteed gone 50/50 if not
58- probably back
Thatâs my hot take, really going out on a limb here
some meaningless combine scrimmages could end up being program defining (odds to win the ship)
So how does this work? How can you be guaranteed money before being drafted? Is it just team x, y & z, say that they plan on drafting him, and when they do they will give him 2 years guaranteed?
the nba team will tell you⊠we are drafting you at this pick and we are giving you this contractâŠ
most guaranteed contracts for draftee tend to be 3 or 4 years ⊠even 2nd rounders
the quote you pointed out baiscally says⊠we arent going on hope or online draft experts thinking we will go highâŠwe arent going to the combine putting on a good shows and hoping for the best on draft day⊠a team has to come tell us they are drafting us before the draft and that it will be a contract
So a team tells you their âintentâ is to take you in the 2nd rd. Still say itâs a crap shoot because the team saying this canât guarantee theyâll be in a position to pick you or that theyâll even keep the pick. Last yr alone 15 of the 28 picks in the 2nd were traded.
The Marcus Sasser approach.
Unless an NBA team promises Milos a guaranteed contract before drafting him, heâs coming back.
If heâs gone no ship for UH imo.
Iâm glad @pesik agrees with me
His camp has been leaning towards coming back. Based on where he was being projected. We shall see.
looking at the scrimmage roster good news or bad news for us, is that milos team in the scrimmage is set up for him to thrive
him and nemhard are the only ball dominant players on the team, and they likely wont be playing together⊠everyone else is catch and shoot
some fun scrimmage nuggets:
-
there is a player on Uzans Team, Ben Henshall, most here have never heard of him, but he could change the entire landscape of the big 12/college basketball next year ⊠he is a top prospect from the NBL who did 9pt 3rbs 3asts at the NBLâŠnot that impressive without context⊠but that is the highest level of pro ball in one of the best foreign leagues âŠand his team was one was of the best in that league. further context he is playing with a ton of former NBA and there are former all-big 12/all-big 10 who come off the bench for himâŠ
â all of this to say that he has mentioned if he doesnât get a high enough draft grade, he will heavily consider college (that pays more than the NBL), texas tech (already preseason top 10), will be top 2 for him -
team domercant has most of the deciders, that will change preseason expectations
not my takeâŠ
with milos, i think we have to be the #1 team, i donât think there is a close 2ndâŠ
- purdue defense is still bad, (adding more offense to an offensive team doesnt fix that)
- uconn is just last years team (that wasnât that good) but with Silas Demary Jr. (13.5 PPG at Georgia)⊠he isnât good enough to make that big a jump for uconn
- st johns just threw pieces together no retention
without milos we can still be the best but need some defensive improvement from pop⊠some improved toughness from cenac and sharp more scoring⊠but all within the realm of realistic possibility
Iâm just really worried about experience if Uzan doesnât come back. We will still have one of the most, if not the most, talented rosters in the country. And have Sampson as our coach.
Will our experience come back to bite us?
I also, selfishly, donât want Kingston going off too much by being put in the starting lineup.
Because I am already envisioning a Flemings, Holt, Harwell backcourt in 2026-2027. Lol
