BYU have a national fanbase from the LDS religion and many of them go to support even though they didn’t attend BYU.
It took me an hour and a half from Cypress. I spent 20 minutes sitting on Cullen because traffic was standstill for some reason. I finally went to Scott street and it wasn’t any better
We don’t attract the casual college basketball fan. Think location has something to do with it, traffic, availability of seats.
UH fans suggestions since 2010 to boost significant attendance and increase ticket sales.
We need a new football stadium.
We need a new basketball arena.
We want a top 25 ranked football team.
We want a consistent tournament basketball team.
We want to join the Big 12.
We want to see ranked opponents.
We need to promote on social media.
We need Chick Fil A at all events.
We want black jerseys.
We want games scheduled in the evenings.
We want Elvin.
Yet here we are in 2023 still having issues about attendance and the lack of season ticket sales.
The complaint for basketball has become our tardiness. Seems some just like to complain.
all we need is TRADITIONAL college students who WANT to attend the University of Houston and 95% of our problems go away, over time.
Our problem- we do not cater towards Traditional Students AT ALL!
Look at demographics of other schools, let’s say TT, TCU, A&M, etc, much different students, much more traditional than us, why don’t these students go to UH?
You left off “complaining about attendance”. We’ve been doing that forever and yet somehow it still hasn’t fixed the issue. Crazy!
Diversity is good and all that but maybe it’s not good for our athletic attendance
Ahh yes, because a Saturday game in December in a foreign country that could be part of a vacation is totally the same as a Tuesday night 6pm home game in February.
Don’t care what they think.
I know not all are just left empty without trying to fill them first. Sometimes, if you’re late in realizing you can’t go - finding someone who can might be a problem.
Based on what factors?
Not quite sure about that but ok.
Would be way worse. People could buy cheaper tickets and be less likely to attend. Also there’s less incentive to sell or give them away.
2 posts were split to a new topic: UH Catering to Traditional Students or Not?
BGB had to talk his smack about the attendance. He hates everything about the City. Not really sure why. And yes, 6:00 weekday start times are tough. This happens with other sporting events in the city, It doesn’t matter what team is playing.
Suggestion - Exit Spur 5 and take Wheeler to Cullen. Might be better than Scott and or Cullen off I-45. Or 610 South Loop to Scott
Both 2/19 and 2/27 home games have a 6:00 Tip.
Y’all act like we are the only school or city that gets 6pm games, they have them every week, other stadiums seem full, it’s just the way it is in Houston
This is true, but I’d venture to say few if any of those schools are the size of Houston with Houston-level traffic. Some for sure, but I’d bet their arenas are not very full at the start either.
The Kansas students showed up 24 hours before tip off to ensure they got a seat for the game…24 hours BEFORE!
We can’t get there at 6 PM?
Come on…it’s a matter of priorities. If you WANT To be there, you wouldn’t miss it for ANYTHING!
You should have your Coog Card revoked! One of the most ludicrous takes I’ve ever seen!

I couldn’t agree more. The problem is the games are sold out(basketball) and the people that can’t go, just leave their seats empty.
Not everyone. I was able to donate mine when I couldn’t sell them!
